Fuel burn heater not working |
|
Hi peeps.
I’ve got a 2005 disco3 and the FBH does not work won’t even turn on I’m just wondering if it needs to see the fuel pump prime to start the process. I’ve plugged in a computer and tried to manually prime the pump to see if it works but the computer just says failed is there anything I can do? I’ve stripped and cleaned and still no joy any help would me much appreciated thanks

Its very unlikely to need priming i would start by reading the codes and resetting the unit, it may have locked out if its had too many failed attempts Andrew

I read this soooo often…. Priming…. Is ONLY needed if a fbh is installed NEW/FRESH so the fuel lines are 100% empty….., from tank to fbh that is…
In all other “cases” NEVER prime , especially diesel FBH…. Diesel does not evaporate (very) well, so if to much diesel it will NOT start, until cleaned internally….
People tend to think that it is like tickling a carburettor, but carburettors work with fuel/gas, totally different evaporation behaviour and totally different burning behaviour……
If a fbh (ttv or tt evo) does not work after removing a lockout… it is next to dirty, mostly a faulty glowplug…. Faulty = does not get hot enough to ignite the diesel/air mixture… Best regards

I was only going to prime to make sure the pump was working and not blocked. I already had the unit out and cleaned. Wasn’t that bad really. How do you reset it? Say I’ve already had the fuse out and the unit unplugged to clean. So is there another way?? Thanks for the input
