Hi Guys,
I am currently in Europe on a work assignment and thinking of buying a Disco 4 to tour around.
I can buy a 2012 D4 SDV6 with 192,000km on the clock for GBP 7,500. It seems to have turbo issues.
I can buy a 2012 D4 SDV6 with 140,000km on the clock for GBP 15,000 - It looks in a bit better condition overall
Now, I am wondering if I shouldn't buy the cheaper version and spend the difference fixing it up and replacing the motor or if I should buy the lower mileage version.
My question to you guys is, has anyone had a D4 engine replaced and can recommend a good indie that can do this?
Secondly, the engine should be a straight fit even onto a EU car with a steering wheel on the wrong side of the car?
What sort of costs am I looking at? I have found supply and fit prices on ebay around the GBP 5,000 mark. Any experience with these options? Disco 4 SDV6 HSE with Compomotives, BFG 265/65R18s, BigCountry drawer system, Melvill & Moon covers, NL 52L fridge, FR Spare Wheel Carrier, FR Roof Rack, Tenco RTT, FR 50" LED Bar, dual spots, Lift Rods, Mantec Snorkel, C-TEK Dual batt system, 270 Ostrichwing, Maxtrax, Icom ID-5100, Icom ID-51 as secondary, IIDtool BT

Talk to OvalAutos or Disco_Mikey, both sponsors on here.
£5K is too cheap, IMHO, for a decent engine. .

think LR short engine is about 6500 pounds plus fitting and anything else

You haven't said which engines? The 2.7 and 3.0L are worlds apart from repairability and replacement donor engines. If they're 2.7l life if a lot easier. If 3.0L, go in eyes wide open.

I would have thought that SDV6 or the 2012 year would have made it clear that it’s the 3.0.
