Engine bay detailing

The engine bay in my 2010 D4 is looking a bit dusty and tired. I am trying to pluck up the courage to give it a clean. I watched some videos on YouTube using various methods including tyre foam and a product called P21S (very expensive) which is rinsed off with water (a bit worrying).
Anybody got any experience with engine cleaning that they could share. This is a link for the P21S.
,is it safe.
