Webasto WTT 2.14 on Windows10?

Hi. I use the WTT 2.14 app with an USB-OBDII cable on WINDOWS7. The cable ist fron this shop. No problems at all! Now I have to change the laptop and the operating system to WINDOWS10. But it doesn't work.

What can I do? A new driver? A new WTT app e.g. WTT3.x?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome.

It will work on W10 you just have to do a small bit of lateral thinking Smile

If I recall correctly you need to open the "Device Manager" > then tick "View" > then tick "Show Hidden Devices"
This should open the USB/COM port list showing the assigned numbers for each port. Click on each port number, eg (COM 3) (COM 4) (COM5) etc.

Now open up WTT and click "Extras" > COM PORT and a window should appear with a COM Port selected eg (COM 3) >Click "OK"

If it says "COM Port not available" unplug the adapter and move to the next USB port and repeat the last step above (in blue). A different COM Port will appear in the window, so click on it and see if it will accept that. If not move to the next USB until you find one acceptable.

This is from memory (not the best I'm afraid) so hopefully it's not the recipe for scrambled eggs I have given you! Smile

Hope it helps. Thumbs Up

@ PROFSR G: Thank You!

It doesn't really work. I'm shure it was up to me. Mad

Anyway I found the right driver for the converter cable. Inside the adapter there is an FT232 IC. And the driver for this USB- K-L interface is downloadable on the FTDI Chip - site:

https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/

Now it works perfectly! Thumbs Up

Best Regards!

Interesting, but I've never had to look for the driver. Thumbs Up

Thanks for this dude! Very Happy

You have solved an identical problem i had with windows 10 and the cable. Would not have figured it out on my own. I did a forum search.

Had to run the driver exe twice for some reason but its all good and sees the com port now!

Now for the diagnosis to take place...............

BTW:

You have to click the [Stop Diagnose] button befor exit the WTT programm! Otherwise in many cases the next time you open WTT you can't start [Start Diagnose] the diagnostic part. In this situation click the [Stop Diagnose] and then click the [Start Diagnose].
