Vacuum Inlet Valve Replacement

Crikey! What a weekend!
After changing out the oil cooler and breaking a couple of QD and connectors, I thought I'd finish the brake vacuum pump inlet mod that I started a few years ago!
Due to access, I had fitted the dual pipe with one way valve, but not replaced the inlet valve spigot.
Now that I have access, I thought I'd knock it over in a few minutes!

My problem is that when I removed the old spigot, it 'sproinged' and I assume the washer, seal and ball were ejected never to be found again! Para 6 refers!
Para 9 and 10 make no mention of replacing the ball so I dropped the new spring and washer in and it appears that there is no tension or movement of the washer on the spring at all.
I suspect that the ball was supposed to go back in?
I don't want to clip the new spigot on until I'm sure.

As I don't know what actually 'sproinged' out, I'm gunna stop until I am sure.

Sorry I linked the entire recall procedure, but it hasn't worked so a couple pics instead!

Any ideas?

Cheers
RJ
