Wheel bearing assembly stuck! |
|
I've bought a new wheel bearing hub assembly., undone the four bolts and it won't budge at all, tried a really BIG hammer and all the sprays under the sun
Absolutely no signs of movement....
Can anybody help me?
The bottom ball joint suspension arm won't budge either after trying another option.
Appreciate any advice
Thanks

Is the CV joint spline released after removing hub nut, they tend to fuse together with rust?
With the bolts out, the old bearing carrier can rotate in the hub. It may be easier to release it this way rather trying to force out. Chris

Could try screwing nut part way on and hit it with a big hammer to free it up. A three leg puller wound up tight and then hit with a hammer on the puller bolt would also work.

I can’t even get the 4 bolts undone. Completely rusted solid. Gave up before I sheared them so off to a professional on Monday.

Can also use an air chisel with appropriate insert on the end of the CV joint spline

You need to use new bolts anyway, if the old bolts snap off the hub will still come out. Andrew

Thanks for pointing that out. In the end I drowned them in penetrating oil and they came out just fine. Managed to get the job done myself in just a couple of hours😃
