Few questions, is the plemum and the rocker 1 piece? I cant figure out how to remove it.
How on earth do I remove the steel water pipe and what does the cable that goes down past the grey connector at the front of the Rocker go to? This stops me moving the loom out the way.
How many bolts hold the rocker on?
Last but not least. Is there a how 2? The last link that was posted didnt have any pictures.
Many thanks. ,😫

Are you sure you are up for this ?!
Park car in sensible location were it will stay for a couple of months!
Maybe worth having a look at the cambelt change procedure as this will give cues and you will need to remove the belt anyway.
You put a spanner on the 2 bolts from behind, to remove water pipe
Remove the fan
Remove passenger side heat shield
Remove plastic around battery
Remove the injector rail
Remove the injector rail mounting bracket
Loosen the fuel pipe that goes round the back
Loosen 3 water pump bolts. Remove aux belt
Loosen the front cambelt cover. There is one cam cover bolt behind it
Now you should have access to all cam cover bolts

The 2 pin grey plug on top of the cam cover is the knock sensor. Just unplug it.

Hey Pete thanks for the reply. Yes definately up for it mate. Ive rebuilt quite a few engines and built a kit car. Ive replace the cam belt on it 2 year ago too.
That back bracket looks an absolute pig, tempted to cut the bracket off instead lol.
Am I right in assuming the plenum is a part of the rocker?
Sorry the wire I am talking about run s down futher than the larger grey connector. It disappears down the front. Will have another look tomorrow evening and report back.
Appreciate the help

Evening. Bit of an update. Made a start stripping as 0 compression. Had endoscope down cylinders 1&2 on Rh bank. Cant see any debris.
Quick question, how on earth do I get the back injector out please? It hits the bulkhead.
Also whats the black item in this pic of on the piston? Is that normal?
Many thanks

My guess would be oil or is it a hole Try prodding it with something absorbabant
If you mean the passenger injector, you need to remove the wiring harness. See the cambelt changing instructions on how to get it out

It's not that bad, it's been designed to come out.
Remove the battery undo the connectors and pull the looms out of the way will only take 5 mins. You can then unclip the plastic battery tray side and you will have more accessAndrew

Evening lads. Right, finally managed to get the cover off. Confirmed snapped chain. Cams and rockers all look ok. Chain has disappeared into the gap. Do i need to also remove the exhaust cam to retrieve it?
What should i be looking for now? I cant see any debris on the pistons,. Shall I just fit a new chain?
Is there a how too?
Cheers.

This is a guide on how to sort. (includes head removal)
But if this look ok, you could try without head removal.
I think you need to remove both cams to get a new chain on.
Once the chain and cambelt is on, I think you should do a compression test.
Not sure which gap you mean, that the chain has fallen in

I managed to do it by removing the inlet camshaft and loosening/removing enough exhaust camshaft caps to lift the front of it up just enough to wiggle the new chain over the end. This meant I didn't have to remove the fuel pump pulley to take the rear belt cover off at the back. Needed to dremel out some of the rear belt cover to loosen the rearmost exhaust cam cap bolts. Front and rear timing belts need to come off as well as I think the exhaust cam front pulley.
I was a bit concerned about the cam seals leaking after doing it this way but they've been ok.
