Front wheel creak.. with video

Hi folks

So I’m trying to track down this noise - on cold it’s fine, comes after 2-3 mins of driving - had thought it was suspension but now not so sure .... any tips on troubleshooting this please?

have been investigating further as feared it may be a bearing (which I'd have to park up immediately until it can be looked at by my Indie Sad )

So some further findings...

with the car stationary and in normal ride height I can push it up and get it to replicate:

Really hard to work out where it's coming from! I'm thinking lower control arms as I can feel a tiny vibration on this part when it's squeaking, but can't really be sure

in access or extended it doesn't do it - I assume as it moves the bushes to less worn area's....

I then put a jack under the control arm and put pressure on it - pushed up and down and no noise

&ab

I'm now about 70% sure it's bushes on lower control arm if that makes sense?

WD40 can help locate noises.

spray on suspected bushes, Ideally while rocking. IF the noise stops, it's probably there

I would think you would be able to use the car if really needed.
WHeel bearings are quite easy on these. Our german friends did a video

Top arm bush would be my guess. I'll post the video of mine if I can find it.

ah brill thanks - that is very familiar sounding!

I've got some silicon spray coming tomorrow and will try the top bushing first - did try with lithium spray (only thing i had Rolling Eyes ) but no difference

got it booked in a couple of weeks from now, but with a trip coming up over bank holiday just need to make sure it's deffo the bushing and it can be driven!

My local garage has investigated and confirmed... lower ball joint! - recommend replace both lower arms as bushes worn, and as they are original and in there taking it apart, may as well do both upper arms and drop links at the same time

AF are showing 3 reasonable choices... Terra Firma fitted version, Optimal Hydra bush version or Mehle HD version..... I'm assuming OEM version would be the optimal hydra bush version?

Any opinions on which is best? I do some muddy forest tracks a few times a year but I'm not out on the plains every weekend!

Originals provide better feel / driving characteristics, but longevity is not great. The Meyle HD are longer lasting and a good compromise. Thumbs Up

Brill thanks for that - and advanced factors cheapest I could find + free delivery, which justified going for the Mehle HD lower arms and drop links which was a bonus Laughing
