Removal of Webasto heater?

Has anyone ever (successfully) removed a factory-installed heater?

Mine seems to take up a huge amount of space (that I could use for mods or for a leisure battery) and I think I've used it twice in 2+ years.

Comments/advice welcome! Thanks.

FBH runs automatically at 5C or below. It helps the engine a lot, and interior comfort, in cold weather. Removing it is a bad idea IMHO.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

You may not be aware that it has been working, but I would be very surprised if it has only worked as little as you suggest - but maybe you only use your car between May & November?

Don't remove it! If you plug in a decent diagnostic tool you will see just how many times it has been in use from new. Besides, you can fit the leisure battery in the opposite compartment where the brake MC lives!

Or, you could invest in a remote start for the Webasto and use it a lot more Whistle

As NJSS says, it automatically comes on at 5 degrees outside temp so it’s used a lot. What type of thing would you look at putting there? Battery fits on other side of the bay, you can even fit a tyre compressor in the cavity behind the headlights, not sure what else you’d want to fit under the bonnet Smile

Ah - it seems I've been misinformed, then. I'd understood the FBH only came on when I set the Timed Climate, which is what I've done twice in 2 years).

I was also labouring under the misapprehension that the leisure battery would go in place of the FBH but I'm interested to hear it can go on the other side so I'll look again tomorrow at spaces.

Currently the things I could do with space for are a leisure battery and a PA speaker.

Fauxjito, you’ll see tomorrow when you lift the cover on the drivers side to feed your cable, plenty of room for an aux battery there, even has the screw fittings for the battery clamps, as it’s where they fit the battery on LHD vehicles. Smile

Here’s mine, fitted it a couple of months ago
