My black leather is in good order, but hasn't been cleaned by me.
I am contemplating using Autoglym leather cleaner followed by Gliptone GT11 a couple of days later.
I would however welcome recommendations and tips.

Having read those threads & some others elsewhere I think that GLIPTONE GT11 & GT12 Liquid Leather Cleaner & Conditioner are probably the answer.
I was thinking of starting with Autoglym leather cleaner as I have some in the garage, left over from cleaning the seats in my MGs.

i have just done mine .i cleaned with diluted tfr and a small nail brush and clean rags .then conditioned with meguires gold leather conditioner https://www.bing.com/aclk?ld=e8tPG7Bm-uPWY...&ntb=1

+1 for the Gliptone. Did mine the other recently as I don't think it had even been touched by the previous owner. The before & after was like night & day. As well as being clean, the conditioner made the leather supple where as previously it was dry & hard.
I'd say the Gliptone was also better at cleaning the leather than the Autoglym product I used on the old D3.

Every time I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of cleaning car leather on detailing forums etc, I always seem to end up being told that nearly all car leather is coated/painted and so it’s not worth spending a fortune on leather treatments, just use baby wipes.
I can’t remember the term, but the leather is coated with a synthetic paint layer.
I use a leather treatment called collenite or something. It’s never done any harm, smells nice, but has never felt like it really made any difference. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Hi, not sure about the D3 or D4 but it's worth remembering that most Morden cars only have the face as leather. The rest, sides, bolsters etc are often synthetic or bonded leather

certainly repaired leather is painted on.
However you should feed real leather at least once a year
Just after summer is a good time (maybe)

Ive always used the autoglym cleaner and balm. Started off because it was what I had been given at some point and it was in the garage, but replaced it from that point.
Chap near me restores and repairs leather on cars (He had Robbie Williams’s Roller in the other week - beautiful). He said the AG is as good as any and to make sure you hoover out all the dust and crap in the seams first and thoroughly, use min water on the damp microfibre cloth when you use the cleaner. Let the soap do the work. Damp microfibre it off (rinsing and ringing it out) after and let it dry for a few hours. Then plenty of balm in a warm car, letting it soak and then gently buff it with a microfibre again.
I tried his method (with him watching) on 21 year old BMW leather seats, they came up beautiful (and they were light grey leather).
And they smelled lovely too! He also said once a year min for balm/conditioner

Another vote for the AG stuff. I only changed to it from Gliptone after SWMBO said it smelled like an old car after I applied the Gliptone product. I do mine twice a year pre and after summer. visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk
