hi all
i have been trying this for a long time. I would like to check the pressure of the LPFP as described by Robbie.... i bought 2 different gauges and i cannot get a reading.... i tried this on several cars and none show a reading on the gauge..... so i must be doing something wrong..... as these are cars with no faults at all.
can anyone that has managed to check this pressure shed some light for me as i feel like an idiot?
Thanks

Hi
Of course not wishing to try and teach u how to suck eggs but just a thought
Have u tried the pressure gauges on a tyre to see if they work, plus u haven’t been sent a vacuum gauge by mistake have u
Maybe it’s something daft like that
Then if they do work maybe try removing the shrieder valve insert on the test point as dirt might have got behind it , put a small rubber tube on the test point and allow a small amount of fuel to come out into a container , then re install the shrieder valve and try again
Put the video here again so in one post
Hope that helps

Have just cured our troublesome D3 with a 2nd new hpfp, seems the 1st replacment pump was faulty luckily still under warrenty.
Had the same issues, used Lrstaylor's mechanic (great guy) to replace my HPFP and my Disco is now back up and running.
I had tried the usual (brake lights, switch, LPFP) and nothing resolved the issue.
Ignored the advice to go straight for the HPFP until nothing was left apart from the binacle. I would recommend going for the HPFP first as it seems to be a regular fault.

Changed the HPFP and the car is exactly the same as before. Limp mode on acceleration and injector control pressure too low fault code. It was a costly trial and error but at least I don't have to worry about changing the belt, or the HPFP for 7 years now.
For the Norwegians on here. I got the HPFP from dieselgrossisten.no 5500kr + VAT + shipping + 1000kr deposit that you get back when returning your pump. (divide by 11.7 for GBP). They are the local collaboration partner to PF Jones in the UK which I contacted first.
I planned to do the work myself but watched a lengthy youtube video showing how tricky it was so I chickened out and had a local Indie garage do it, Tempe Auto in Trondheim did it for 8 hours labour at 11500 including VAT.
Now the plan is to swap/check the LPFP again. In hindsight I should have done this first since it did show low values for current and pressure.

Fit a genuine fuel filter as well. (This should have been your first port of call!)
Then move on to the fuel lpfp pump, if it's a dud Walbro is the OEM but I believe the Britpart offering is also OEM. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi.... as you can see from my posts I have had a 2008 d3 with same issues for 18months now..... car has been to 2 other mechanics and local land rover dealer since and no one seems to find the problem..... I will list the items I changed below;
QTY2 LPFP second one Genuine LR
QTY 2 HPFP
FUEL FILTER AND HOUSING GENUINE LR
Fuel return pipe between engine and filter as thus has a restriction in it and it tends to go loose
All 6 injectors changed with recon ones
Fuel pressure sensor on common rail new
And today changed the injectors return pipe with fuel temp sensor GENUINE LR
still get P0087 on hard acceleration....
Last week I changed the engine ECM
This car has exhausted me....
I don't know where to go on from here...... feel lost

Can you provide some further info?
What is the pressure reading at the schrader valve?
What is the current draw on the lpfp when running?
Using your IID, what are the following "live values" at idle?
Voltage ign key on.
Battery voltage (engine running)
Volume control valve %.
Pressure cntrl valve %.
Fuel pressure. (Mpa)
Mass air flow sensor signal g/s.
Intake air temp.
Boost air temp degC.
Ambient air temp.
Input/output status fuel lift pump.
Input/output status fuel lift pump power monitor.
Engine rpm.
Eng oil temp.
Coolant temp.
Fault codes logged.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi
Where do I find:
Input/output status fuel lift pump.
Input/output status fuel lift pump power monitor
I cannot see these on live data for engine ecu values?
Please excuse my ignorance!

This is a pic of live vales... engine rpm furl pressure and pressure control valve and volume control valve
Everything seems normal till engine cuts out
I have P0087 only

I notice that the get the car becomes more powerful before cutting out.....
My problem is that fir some reason I cannot measure the pressure at the schreder valve...... this is the third gauge I buy as I keep thinking its defective..... even when I try it on other cars that work perfectly fine I cannot get a reading...... needle does not move at all.... just tried it with a tyre and it works fine. And I have the correct pipe and fitting that I got fro SPX tools as used by LR too.

So there's your problem, and I'm not referring to the gauge!!
You either have a dud pump and or filter, a blockage / restriction in the line to the valve, or the valve itself is at fault.
You need to resolve this before you can proceed, otherwise you're wasting you time.
Trust the tools, that's why you bought them. If you can't then you're going nowhere permanently. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
