Hitch - wrong key stuck!

As my new-to-me LR4 has a hitch fitted, I'm planning on selling the one that came with my older LR4.

I'd never used it, as I sold my tin tent a few years ago, so thought I'd better make sure it works OK. It fits and latches into place as it should, but the key will just not come out of the lock.

A bit more research and the lock is coded D25 but the key is D52 - some dyslexic ordering there maybe? Shocked

Anyway, I've left it to sit overnight with a good old spray of WD40 and will have a go again tomorrow. Any advice (other than the fallback to replace the lock mechanism?). Cheers!

Looking forward to a road trip in the new girl to Arizona next month Thumbs Up

Lots of lube and wriggling will get it out eventually, if it is the wrong key then the cuts will have moved the wafers to places they haven't been before so not surprising they have stuck, especially if you don't use the key very often.

If you can a get hold of it with a pair of crocodile nose pliers (long nose grips to those across the pond Laughing ) and wiggle it using those it helps enormously.

Good luck!

Hi,
remove the plastic handle & lock so you can at least remove the bar, then work on the key in the lock on the bench rather than on the car.
no time limit and easier to work on then?

Thumbs Up

Remember the key will only come out if the hitch is fully latched in position. Try rotating the knob a bit further

No luck on or off the car with any method. I bought a new lock.

Thanks all!
