Missing New Posts. How am I going wrong?.
I looked at New Posts this morning and replied to one on the thread" MOTFAIIIIIL' at 12.21.
When I looked at New Posts later neither my reply or the replied to one were listed although mine was in My Posts and both in the My Discovery4 forum. A later post on the thread, by Pagoda, at 1.04 similarly appeared in the My Discovery4 forum but not in New Posts.
I have been disappointed before that some of my inputs seemed to have gone missing but put it down to finger trouble but on reflction think it was on D4 originating topics.
Am I wrong in expecting responses to threads appearing in New Posts to also appear there subsequently?.
I think that "New Posts" are just that; threads in which a post has been made since you last accessed them.
If you want to see threads in which you have posted select "My Posts ".

Thanks for your reply.
I could understand if New Posts gave only one opportunity to see a post within it but that is not what I find happens consistently.
I can access New Posts, read a thread and when I access New Posts again sometime later the thread is still there, even though there haven't been any further posts on it. I have just observed this with your own reply.
Some posts that I haven't read are also shown even though I can tell from the last post time that they have not been updated since my first seeing them.
This is not a problem and I welcome having a display of recent posts as well as those that have not been shown to me before.
The puzzle was why, on this occasion and not always, my own reply was not shown as a new post and why the post that I replied to was also missing from the list of new posts even though it was timed between other displayed messages.
I accept that a thread only appears once in a display of new posts regardless of how many recent replies there have been and it's reasonable that perhaps if someone has posted they don't need to see their own post in New Posts, although I am used to seeing my posts shown there, (perhaps not replies?).
Today having looked in My Posts I saw that Pagoda had posted after me and read his post. His post did not appear in New Posts when I next looked, even though it was in the time range.
Again I can accept "you read it, you don't need to be told about it again", but again I accessed your reply via My Posts and it remained visible in New Posts.
I find the site hugely valuable regardless of how it works but find it a mystery at times.

Just blame DG. It’s what we’d do.

Wonder if the "red hot X button" is the one that deletes all your posts, Del ?
Would take you weeks to get back to current numbers ! .
