Fuel temperature sensor leak off pipe 4R8Q9F951AA fix
Having trouble replacing the oil filter being the fuel run off pipe in the way moving it aside broke the pipe off the fuel temperature sensor as I now know this is a common grrr and the time and cost is extortionate replacing the complete part.
Thankfully there’s enough nylon fuel pipe to make a clean cut on all three pipes removing the sensor and it’s 3 port caplsule.
Remove the grey sensor from the capsule, this is a bit tight due to the O rings.
Drill a 4.8mm hole to the break and sand the area to key for adhesive. Thoroughly clean with acetone.
Purchase a 4mm brass hose connector £3 cut in half leaving a slim shoulder, as shown in photos sand area to be glued and clean with acetone.
Apply JB Weld to shoulder and insert using a cocktail stick etc to guide the fitting into the black 3 port capsule (its a tight fit so need to push home with screwdriver etc.
Now apply JB Weld to exterior (belt & braces)
JB Weld is fuel resistant and strong as #%@*.
Let set.
Insert the sensor there is plenty of room and the shoulder does not impede end of the sensor.
The nylon fuel lines need a little warmth (not too much) heat gun/hair dryer push them back on as they cool they fit perfectly tight.
Half hour faffing around, a cost of £10 will put this mistake right and probably stronger than beforehand.
This forum has helped me considerably I hope to do the same for someone here.
Photos should be below if not feel free to ask and I will send them to you
