Hi All,
Attempting to work out a weird problem on my Bell Auto Services FBH controller - whenever the headlights are turned on, I get a startup SMS from the controller, seems that voltage to the headlight sensor is causing a reboot...
No progress with BAS directly - I did fit a light bar that used the main beam as a trigger to a relay to power on, but obviously this is different to the trigger from the dipped beam that BAS uses, also fitted xenon headlamps (after this problem started) but again can't see any impact beyond disturbed wiring.
At a bit of a loss as to what may be causing this and see if this is a known issue or something specific to me...any suggestions on troubleshooting steps?

How is it wired up, what connections are you using?
The minimum connections seem to be as follows:
Red = 12V Main battery power
Black with White Trace = Chassis GND
Green = Pin 2 of FBH heater
Blue = Head light sense
Check the main power feed (red) and the fuse (if fitted). 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Sure - will go through and check connections - all was working fine for last winter (was the only way to get it fired up!)
Good check to do though as I did have an issue with ground connections getting scorched by the FBH (and controller may be also connected to that point...) so worth removing and refitting - would make sense thanks!

Bit of an update on this and an ask - this weekend I went through and soldered the trigger connection to the headlight for my FBH to make sure it wasn't a bad connection
Unfortunately - the unit is rebooting whenever I turn the headlights on
does anyone have a known good used FBH BAS unit I can buy or borrow - want to test it's not something funky with my install?
I've only got the positive, ground and trigger wire connected alongside the aerial

I purchased your fbh controller around 18 months ago and had been working perfectly - for the last couple of weeks however it’s stopped responding to SMS and when I turn the lights on I get a “started” SMS from the unit (but no activation of FBH) - I think it may be fault! Have disconnected and reconnected but won’t respond apart from rebooting when it detects headlight
Is there a way to perhaps reset it with SMS access or a firmware update?
Any more info needed let me know
Thanks
Larry

Kind Regards Pete Bell
Bell Auto Services Ltd (BAS Remaps)

You can always call my number from the web site and ill gladly help.
But from what your mentioning about rebooting it sounds like a wiring issue.

Nothing here yet and ive sent you two more emails from two separate accounts.
I think its best you call the office during the day time so we can chat over your needs.
you can also try send a NEW contact from the web site contact form answering the bits I needed to know to help.
What is its phone number ?
Have you had ANY AT ALL work done on the car recently ??
Something must have again changed on your car as it was working on your first post as it was reply to you on SMS saying the heater was starting. On from that if the heater does not start its a heater issue.
But now you say its not doing that any more.
Regards Pete

check your pm,, i think you will find something interesting after ive remotely interrogated your module now I have its number
Like your exact current location as your module just replied to me in sms
Module is also connected to a heater that was made 21.11.2007
Coolant temp 39C
Ambient 18.5C
2 Heater faults 1st is 03 and 2nd 02
Looks like you have other issues if the heater is not starting as the module is working perfect for me.
