How to identify which air compressor
Hi folks,
After having the suspension fail, ive managed to get the compressor off the car.... other than the air pipes it practically fell off, everything was in a poor state, didn’t have to undo any of the bolts holding the bracket, it was hanging by the air pipes and resting in the bottom cover basically.
Anyway, now that its off, I’m going to buy a replacement kit, but question is how do i go about getting like for like... I’m not sure which compressor i have...

You have a Hitachi compressor. Your options are to either replace it with like for like (Hitachi) or, you could upgrade to an AMK unit. The AMK will need a pipe conversion kit and can be bought with the compressor.
You will also need a GAP IID diagnostic tool to upload the AMK software if you go that route.(Though the AMK will still run on the Hitachi software.)
Dunlop also do an aftermarket version of the Hitachi compressor, but if you want my recommendation I'd be going AMK and replace the relay as well. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks... there certainly seems to be more amk about.... are they supposed to be better, longer lasting? And just more for my knowledge what is it about mine that makes it Hitachi?
With lock down, getting the software update could be a bit of a nightmare, and i could do with the car back on the road sooner rather than later, so will it be okay to run until such times as i get someone to do the software update?

AMK is a more robust compressor and the software is in the GAP IID tool! Both compressors are subject to servicing as per LR maintenance schedule but it is all too often neglected resulting in compressor burn out or partial failure. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Yeh, but can I run the car with amk until such times that Covid etc allows me to get somewhere with the gap iid? D3 with lots of d4 extras!

Just been reading Disco Mikey’s excellent how to, and it seems that the amk will run on the old software, with no probs. So just update at a later date!D3 with lots of d4 extras!
