D3 Wheels on a D4?

Silly question, I tried the search but couldn’t find an answer. Would 18” D3 wheels fit straight onto a D4? Or is Tuffants and Comps the only 18” option for D4?

The last sentence is correct. Well worth the effort though. Thumbs Up

D4 WHEELS ON D3

Hi, i just fitted D4 wheels on my D3, just buy a 5 mm spacer set and front wheels clear the caliper, no need to fit elongated bolts.

So assuming the reverse In my case I could get 18” disco 3 wheels on a D4 by using a spacer?

No. LR 18” rims still won’t clear the front brake callipers on the D4.

Great thank you for that clarification. Looks like TuffAnts or Comps only then

Unless you make modifications to the brakes. Something your insurers might not be too keen on.

If it’s any consolation, PD1881’s hold their value well and are easy to sell on if/when you want to sell the D4.

I was very happy with the LR 255-60-18 tyre size. There’s a good choice available. 👍

Terrafirma 30mm spacers allow 18inch D3 wheels to fit a D4 and might be more insurance friendly than butchering the callipers.

You live and learn. Thumbs Up

I’m not a fan of using spacers and they are over an inch thick, but each to their own.

Is that due to increased stress on bearings etc or just personal preference ?

Probably wouldn't be my choice either, the vehicle is sensitive enough to worn bushes, alignment and differences in tyre pressures without hanging the weight further out.
