I believe if you do a search for Discovery Doctors on FB you will see their page. They seem fairly busy with a fair bit going on.
I contacted them for a price for a job a while back and their quote was pretty good and they seemed very helpful and with my limited experience, fairly knowledgable.
All that said, I’ve not actually used them and have no ties with them so can only highlight that they do exist.
Had they of been closer ( I didn’t realise their location when asking for the quote) I would have used them..
Hope this is of some help.2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

Sorry to hear you have had this happen D&G, but here's my two pence worth.
Don't use a "recon" engine from anybody! There are just too many variables with regard to the source of new and possibly sub standard parts, particularly the crank.
If your old block is not repairable due to crank failure, your options are either to source another used engine from either a Jag "S" Type, another D3, (less unlikely) or a brand new block.
If your crank hasn't let go your existing engine should be repairable.
I would have thought DM will hold the best suite of options for you if you can overcome the transport issues yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

@PROFSR
Thank you. At the moment nothing has gone bang. But it sounds like it will soon. In an ideal world I will see if I can use DM but thet might not be practical.
I struggle to believe that nobody can rebuild these engines yet. The Discovery Doctors seem to be a company with a growing following but without first hand recommendations I am indeed nervous.
My other issue is putting in a big standard LR block feels like a roll of the dice yet again. There are too many variables, life should be simpler. No I can't have a V8 and I need to tow 3.5t with an auto. I see no point in buying another one because the same thing could happen in another two years. An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

Rebuilding these engines in itself is not such an issue. Rather, since LR won't sell the crank shaft you have to ask the question where did your engine rebuilder get it from? There's no shortage of junk cranks out there and the unwary can easily get caught.
I see Island 4x4 are selling a new crank which they claim to be genuine LR. I have dealt with Island 4x4 for years and can attest as to their integrity, but I'd need to be absolutely convinced beyond all doubt that it is a genuine LR crank. Having said all that if your crank is ok then it's a far easier and cost effective rebuild!!
I have rebuilt around 15 of these engines and can only offer advice based on my own experience. However, I think a chat with DM really is your best course. His experiences of either rebuild or replacement is substantial. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Ther are still some genuine 2.7 tdv6 LR cranks floating around, new old stock. Once they are gone, they are gone. Aftermarket cranks are made in Turkey, decent quality. Ebay ones are Chinese junk - to be avoided at all cost.

I cant really add anything to this thread
Aftermarket cranks are of spurious quality
For a new/recon lump, a factory crate engine is the only way to go. 2yr, unlimited mile warranty. Not the cheapest of options, but certainly gives peace of mind, both for the owner and myself My D3 Build Thread

Thanks everybody. The engine guys claim to be using original cranks.
DM when you have a few minutes can you message me the cost for a LR engine. Have they changed the design of the crank in anyway. I can't help wondering if the risk of the engine going bang at 3 or 4 years old is much worse than a good and I want to emphasise the good, engine rebuild.

Apparently, ALL factory recons (2.7/3.0) have an upgraded crank
