Disco 4interior light issue
Evening all. Just bought my discovery 4 and noticed the central dome light does not come on when opening the doors.
I have pressed the front light switch and got the messages on the dash which turns them all off or on which works for all the other lights.
The central lights work on their own by pressing the buttons.
Any ideas why this one is not working when opening the doors?
Thanks for your help

I wish it was that simple. All the lights work when pressing the buttons just doesn’t come on when the doors open. Whereas all the others do
Hard Reset ? remove +/- leads from battery and hold them together for 30+ seconds.

If you mean the darkened dome you can see in the photo, it isn't a lamp, I think it's the receiver for the remote for the rear screen entertainment or something like that anyway. I'm trying to remember back 3 years when had a Luxury but my memory is a little dimmed now.

thanks for the photo saved me going outside to take one
no its not the black sensor its the middle light highlighted, it works independently by using the buttons on the light for all three lights it just doesnt turn on when opening the doors
I seem to recall that when I fitted LEDs , it was all too easy to separate sections of the fittings. Might be your issue..

Thanks Dean
i will take it apart and check connections etc, seem to have to do that a lot with a Disco (had to do the same when the rear screens stopped working, the simple unplug and plug back in again and it works)
is the LED upgrade worth it, been considering it to make them a bit brighter

You can either change all the individual bulbs to LED (cheapest way), or buy a kit from fleabay or PUK that has all new units work really well for the number plates and much brighter...
Don't forget to change the bulbs in the sun visors as well I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Still not fixed
So I have tried unplugging both the front and middle dome lights to check the connections but still no joy.
The centre dome light will still not come on when the doors are open.
I have not done the hard reset as suggested as a title nervous of touching the positive and negative leads together. Also not sure this would actually fix anything.
As a side note I was in a 2015 model the other day and when I manually turn on the front interior light the middle one comes on too.
Is that supposed to happen on my earlier model too?
Does anyone know how this setup is supposed to work from a wiring point of view. How does it all join together. I know it can’t be the door sensors as the other lights come on. Just wondering how the lights are connected so I can try and chase back the wires to see if any of those are at fault

UPDATE
so found the issue
it was with the light itself
got the trusty multimeter out and could see there was a switched live going to the light so dug a little deeper.
took the light apart and there looks to be a little diode which had burnt out which was breaking the connection for when the doors opened.
bridged this with a piece of wire and hey presto all working again.
no idea why it broke as works perfectly with the wire in place. may look to replace the whole unit at some point as there look to be several available online
