Yes, having read many posts from people who have much more expertise than me, AGM batteries are highly recommended with this car due to all their advantages and the car's sensitivity to battery issues. It's the original spec battery type then I believe if you change the type, you would need to change the setting in the car.

update:
Recharged and probably desluphated the battery with the CTEK. Battery holds 12.8v when off the charger. But there was still a niggle with the gearbox. "Gearbox fault" message sometimes on start up and unable to select any gears until I rev it in Park and then try again, fault is gone. Could select gears but its a bit jerky through the changes.
More fiddling and I find the negative battery terminal is loose.... fixed that and all is perfect, smooth as silk through the gears. 65 plate D4, Corris grey, dark grey/black interior. 66k miles

Good spot! Well done. Thanks for the update. Something to look out for. I suppose the symptoms are similar to a bad earth which some have reported on this forum?
