United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Aintree GreenDiscovery 3

Hi all

This morning it took 6 ignition flicks for the car to start. Glow plug sign light took longer than usual to go off.

Does this indicate a dead glow plug please?

Are they easy to replace?

Lower temperatures result in the light staying on longer.

What was the outside temperature showing ?

No, they aren't easy to replace as they often snap. You can very easily end up with a £700 bill

Do you have an electrical meter ?

Here is a test procedure if you do :

Cheers

Does the wire and button resistor trick work long term?

Would it be safe to ignore faulty glow plugs if it can be masked over with an alternative?

Really don’t want to pay £700 for parts or risk snapping them

yes the button trick seams to be a good long term solution.

The glowplugs aren't £700, but it can cost that when they snap.

ANyway, test your glowplugs. Yours (or some) maybe ok, if it started at 0.
