Personally take the money you would have spent and put it to one side. Use that as your Kitty should you need to do any work on it. The one reason I didn’t go down the D4 route is the issues on warranty and also crank. Hence bought a 4x4 which does what I need with 7 seats and 7 years warranty. So far so good, not without its issues but just new car issues that a lot of brands can suffer with.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

I’d agree - before I moved on I was with motoreasy for a year, never had to claim but sorting the initial cover out (yes, I had the email regarding crank cover and betterment) felt to easy, almost like getting a non-representative side letter to a contract. I took it knowing that I’d have a scrap if I had to claim, but rather have a scrap with a chance of winning than no scrap at all.
Caveat Emptor is the best description / advice.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Took out warranty Wise when I bought my RRS, and remember the salesman saying they covered parts identified at a service as needing replacement.
Had the car inspected as directed by them at Halfrauds, and given a clean bill of health.
Then took it to LR for a service to start my ownership with a worst case indication of condition.
They said I needed a front wheel bearing, rear drop links and new discs/pads.
WW refused to pay out citing the parts had to fail before they would consider any claim.
Told them I had recorded the initial call and gave them 7 days to either cough up or cancel my policy and refund my money.
Got my money back within 5 days, yet they still pester me to renew!

Yes, you’re right about the LR warranty. Forgot that.
Assuming I were to save the cost of my warranty , let’s say an average of £900 per year, I would need to save up a long time before having enough for a new engine.
What is the situation with goodwill from LR? Does a full LR service history help?

Thats what I'm hoping - they replaced the rear prop shaft thingy with goodwill - and having an 'extended' service plan with them - up to 7 years old (so includes cam belt in due course). And having a FSH with the same dealer I bought it from....

It cannot be to much longer before no warranty co will offer cover for any of the older lr products, private or through a dealer?
