New to me - what should i do first?
Hi all
Looking for some suggestions / advice.
Just got my D3...loving it...what should i do first???
Tis 2.7 HSE. Are there any ‘everyone does’ mods or things to check first.
Everything works...ordered the egr blanks but other than that??
Just looking for pointers etc.

Well your profile says she's an 07, so probably worth checking out the situation with the oil pump type as this is a year that is prone to failure.
I understand the failure often appears to follow cam belt replacement, although not always.

I’d also check the oil pump ASAP - highest priority before anything else

3rd on the oil pump. Boring unfortunately but comes before mods. Call up a dealer and get the service history and recall information. Get it in for any recalls if it hasn't had them and check when timing was done.
Once that's out the way with...
EGR blank for sure, should get away with it on an 07 without any faults. Investing in an IID tool or equivalent is well worth the money. The sooner you buy it, the better value for money.
Honestly just make sure it's running well and everything working as it should. Give it a service and look into some preventative maintenance you can put your hand to. It pays off to do things like air pump overhaul, check parking brake is adjusted properly (use the bodsy brake Bible). Preventative maintenance is key on a D3 as they're expensive when they go wrong.

Good advice above. I'd simply add that you should see when the transmission fluid was most recently changed, and do that. Plus all other fluids. Brakes especially, and take a look at the brake hoses and lines. Coolant, diff oils, etc. Plenty to keep you poor.PAGODA

I'm not sure I agree with the gearbox. OP has 185k on the clock. A flush will likely bring the almost definite existing gearbox issues forward and open a very expensive or at the very least juddery tin of worms. Just my opinion but something that has affected many others who wish they had just left it alone. With you on the rest.

07 will throw up the Engine Management Light with EGR blanking. Will need the ECU remap/EGR delete as well.

Sorry yes youre right, most will though mine didnt. Haven't figured if mine is a 07 EU2 or EU4 no DPF though, or if I did, i cant remember.

Each to his own but I'm yet to see anyone who has genuinely broken something that was otherwise not already fooked by changing the transmission fluid. So I disagree that it will cause problems. Having done this on admittedly lower mileage (100K miles) vehicles I've only seen benefit. It's very different to doing say an engine flush at a similar mileage vehicle, and to be quite clear I'm talking about changing the fluid rather than some other process. I'd say go ahead with the process in order to prolong the life of the transmission. My tuppence.PAGODA

MY 2005 MY torque converter started to judder just after I purchased it at 110K miles , had a flush and its been OK since , now 157K .
