If I can get bits swapped with original I had hoped on trading it in for D4 while it's still got a ticket. But so you think they'll even look or given the age just give basic price and punt to market?
?
Do i understand it right..
“Trading it in” and asking: will they look?? So when you know it is rubbish and still cash with dry eyes when they “do not look” ? Does that mean that you can ripp off company’s?
What will happen if they do it the other way around? Sell you a rotten chassis and cash the full amount if you not look? To discover later, you were ripped off?
Maybe i did understand you wrong... apologies when that is the case..Best regards

Places like we buy any car require a decent length MOT and check the vehicles over when you take them in.
shouldn't be any issues with fitting a new chassis ... but you are time limited ? spend a couple of hundred on a runaround and crack on with doing the chassis swap.
what's it going to cost you ? £2k ? £3k ? what would you expect from a car costing £3k ? not a lot ?
you say your Disco runs well and has been looked after. is £3K going to buy you anything that that can be said of ?

I think it depends on what you will buy next. If it’s just a newer version of the same car you are just starting with depreciation again. The alternative is to overhaul it. I have - body off, chassis stripped and galvanised, etc. My view is I will end up with a better condition car than I could buy. But I think it’s only viable if u do it your self.
Next question is cost- lots of sneaky cost adders like prop shaft bolts that are not re usable. Not that expensive but it adds up. Also when it’s apart where do you stop? I’m rebuilding diffs at the minute, so you can tell I like to have the satisfaction of doing it all. But I think I will have spent £4K by the time I done on parts and galvanising, paint, steel, etc.
It also takes time if you want to tackle everything you find.
AdrianSeries one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
LR 90 - In bits
Disco 3 - currently in bits
