Help with a oil leak?

Hi All, never posted here before only commented so hopefully I’m in the right place..

Yesterday I thought I would have a quick look under my sport 3.0 TDV6 and noticed the under guards / trays where covered in oil.. tonight I have took the trays off and can see that the oil staining is up past the bell housing on the gearbox as the top of the gearbox is wet.. can anyone think or recommend where to check for it pis*#ng out of? I have ordered a UV oil dye ( never seen one before?) so hopefully that will narrow it down, changed the oil filter today with new O ring.. any help would be greatly appreciated! Sam

Most likely its the vacuum pump at the rear of the right hand cylinder head

@aja4x4. Thanks for your comment, how would I be able to check this? What exactly does the vacuum pump do and where would I be able to locate it on the engine? I’m not even going to lie I’m quiet competent at working on cars but these things are beyond me!

Thanks aja4x4 will try to check that tomorrow, and hi flack, had its oil done about 3 months ago by a main dealer (not land rover I have a friend at another garage) but he said he didn’t see anything concerning to tell me about when he did it.. how much of a ball ache is the vacuum pump to change / re gasket / stick chewing gum on it Laughing ( please compare to the handbrake actuator I changed on it that was a MAJOR ball ache)

Just had a good look on that thread regarding the vacuum pump and a comment says “it doesn’t have oil running through it just a lot around it”? So is it just me being completely stupid or if it doesn’t have oil through it how would that be leaking oil? Thanks Smile
