The Land Rover cargo bay devider with the lockable gate covers all the bases for our Lab. in his side approx 45% of the boot space I have a large rectangular bed with plenty of comfy vet bedding.
We also have the large roof box and the other 55% of the boot space when holidaying.
This setup allows us to easily take the bed in and out if we want more load space without the dog in tow.
Admittedly i only have a small dog but i do have quite a large crate for it. Its just a wire mesh crate out of a pet shop but its strong enough that things can be stacked on top of it to maximise space usage. Might be the best option for you.

If you go ahead with the TransK9 cage, which is exactly the right solution, when you come to collect the puppy fill the floor area with blankets or towels so the pup only has a small area to curl up in. Which is probably exactly what he will do and happily sleep all the way home. We always ask the breeders to give him a small first meal and collect as early as possible so we have the whole day at home for him to settle in. Good luck with Obi..

This is what I have and a full-sized Labrador fits quite happily.
There is currently one in the For Sale section......

Another vote for TransK9, we started with the Travall dog guard but I got sick of dog nose window art and anything that was in the boot being covered in mud. Its easy to move out and when minging just take out the bed, put it in the wash and hose out the crate.

Another couple of plusses for using a cage (1) when I had a Disco 1 my dog developed a taste for plastic and when he got through to the wiring loom he had a field day!! (2) dog snot is quite acidic and when my rear screen heater stopped working I was told it was the dogs fault!!.

And certain dogs, happily not mine, have been known to chew the third row seat belts.

Another vote for TransK9, bought mine of Nigel and it's been fantastic. Also handy for if you need to take rubbish to the tip – keeps the back nice and tidy.
Consider a box of tissues on a parcel shelf weighs the same as a brick when flying through the cabin at 30mph. What would a 30kg dog weigh?

on the basis of the dog snot covered rear screens ive just dragged my folding RAC dog cage out the shed and with moving the Travall divider across 1 bar from centre the cage fits in snugly. Ill probably put some sort of shield (cardboard or old sheets or something) around the 3 sides to stop overspray from a wet dog but ill trial it for the time being.
Seemed about the right time to get the cage out too as its starting to go rusty in places.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

+1 for the TransK9 - I have the B24ss fitted into my Disco 4
You can also still utilise the 6th seat!

Another vote for the transk9 crate. Given how much stuff our little angel has chewed her way though in the house in two years, it’s probably paid for itself in seat belts, trim panels and wiring too!

And another vote for the TransK9 dog crates.
I've got two singles (B24s/s I think) and both fit in the motor easily. Yes, one will take up half the boot space, but you could load light stuff on top of it if desperate for storage space and the dog guard you already have would stop stuff falling into the passenger area.
As you're getting a puppy, a crate in the house is a good idea too so transitioning to a crate in the disco isn't an issue.
The crate will help to hold any spills from running along the boot liner and onto your camping equipment!
The TransK9 crates are quite light, so can be removed quickly and easily which is handy if you need all the boot space or if you are staying somewhere and need a crate for the pup whilst at friends overnight etc. I think the dog guard divider might be a bit of a faff to keep taking out/in?
We're a family of two adults, two kids and 4 dogs (springers and GSP's). We camp too, so I know space is a concern. We generally camp with two dogs (most sites don't really allow more than two) and the two springers will fit in one crate happily.
Second hand, a Trans K9 crate is around the £200 mark for a decent one.
PS. Loving your set up mjom89! Gun drawer next on my list, albeit I wouldn't be able to use both B24's at the same time, but I don't mind swapping stuff around to suit my day.
