Terrain Response Module Fault |
|
Hi Guys,
Have a problem with my D3 2008 - HDC Fault, Suspension Fault and Suspension Lowered.
Been in for Diagnostics today at my local independent and it keeps returning 3 fault codes stating Terrain Response Module Fault.
Everything drives normally as it should, it shifts up and down the gears when driving in auto and in command shift mode, also goes into high and low range as it should.
3 persistent codes are:
P186D-00 Rear Differential Control Module - Actuator Stuck - Intermittent
U0416-86 Ride Level Control Module - Invalid Data from vehicle Dynamics Module - Temporary
U1A4A-68 Vehicle Dymamics Control Module - Invalid Data from differential Control Module - Permanent
There are 3 other codes that appear as temporary and only come back once the engine starts
U0146-94 invalid data received from VCDM - Temporary
U0403-94 invalid data received from Transfer Case Module - Temporary
U0421-94 invalid data received from Ride Level Control Module - Temporary
Charging at 14.0-14.2 vaults on start up
Battery sitting at 12.2v with everything off.
Any collective thoughts on where to start with this lot..?
Thanks in advance. G4OC Secretary

The first one is the real issue, the actuator.

I would start by checking the connections behind the battery

Need to check the diff motor and its connector as the "actuator" is not working

Having visited an auto-electrician he's done a deep diagnostic scan, he's narrowed the problem to the rear E-Diff Motor having failed, the actuator isn't stuck, the motor is goosed....
Motor and housing (just in case) on order, and once its fitted need to carry out a software update, hopefully that will sort all the fault codes. G4OC Secretary

So the repairs to my D3 didn't turn out as expected:
New Rear Locking Diff Motor + Housing
New Rear Locking Diff Control Module
Gearbox Valve Body
Gearbox Valve Body Control Module
Various software updates
So thats Christmas cancelled.... G4OC Secretary

Its fixed as far as I can tell until I get it off road for a proper shakedown in the slippery stuff to make the rear diff engage, and my garage enjoyed their holiday immensely G4OC Secretary
