D3 2.7 TDV6 S Calliper Hanger Issues

Hello again,

Last weekend I heard the unmistakeable sound of metal on metal when breaking.
I checked all four corners and was a little confused because none of them looked anywhere near to the metal. Anyway, I worked out it was the fronts making the noise so ordered new pads and discs for the front end.

As soon as I got the OS wheel off I saw that the inside pad had worn substantially more than the outside and also on a slant. It turns out the sliding pin on the bottom of the calliper hanger had seized causing the pads to wear unevenly.

I eventually managed to free after nearly 2 hours of shouting, scuffed knuckles and WD40. I cleaned both pins with grease remover and emery paper, gave it a bit of a polish before greasing it and putting it back in.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this problem before? Is it a common issue with Disco's or just common in general? Its not an issue I've ever had before and without the help of my neighbour I would never have been able to fix it for sure.

Is there anything I should have done differently?
Is there anything I can do to stop it happening again?
How worried should I be about it happening with the other callipers?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers!

A lot of time people use the wrong grease.

You need to use a red rubber grease if you use something like copperslip it reacts with the rubber and it swells and splits letting water in.

I've used multi purpose grease, it was all I had on hand at the time. Will that be an issue do you think?
If it is, I can pop into EU car parts Monday morning, I'm sure they will have it in stock.
