Christmas Tree...
Okay, so I am getting an intermittent Christmas Tree of lights and shut down to limp home mode. all goes away for a while if I stop and shut down the engine. Thought it might be simple stuff but have now bitten the bullet and bought an IID tool. BTW - what an amazing tool - but I need to learn to speak the language.
The following are my error codes:
Auxiliary Heater
U1A44-6C (2E) Fuel level
Body Control
B1B70-81 (28) Local interconnection network bus circuit 2 - Bus signal/message failure - invalid serial data received
( on 28-08-2020 03:09:40 at 286780 km )
Engine TDV6
P0101-00 (68) Mass or volume air flow - circuit range/performance
P0087-00 (28) Fuel rail/system pressure - too low
P0191-23 (28) Fuel rail pressure sensor range/performance - General signal failure - signal stays low
Instrument Pack
U0132-87 (2E) Lost communication with ride level control module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
U0159-87 (2E) Lost communication with parking assist control module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
U0127-87 (2E) Lost communication with tire pressure monitor module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

( on 19-09-2020 18:52:08 at 287788 km )
Suspension
C1A13-64 (68) Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
( on 20-09-2020 17:47:51 at 287796 km )

U2023-86 (28) Control module network signal calibration data - Bus signal/message failure - signal is invalid
( on 19-09-2020 18:52:08 at 287788 km )
Tyre Pressure
C1A64-93 (68) Spare wheel tire pressure sensor and transmitter assembly - Component failure - no operation
Of these, parking brake will probably be associated with my local garage replacing the whole parking brake system and module, not sure what the auxiliary heater problem is - fuel level? - and the TPMS is probably due to a useless repair shop not logging the new spare wheel and sensor after some toe rag nicked the old one a while back. Suspension is one I will look at for other reasons - assume its the filter blocked on the vent or the dryer needs sorting?
Which brings me to the cause of the Christmas Tree. I seem to recall it only happens with a code beginning with a C or a P, so that points me to the Fuel Pressure / Mass Air Flow faults. I did have a similar problem a few years back that was rectified by a new fuel filter. Could it be something as simple as that?
Thoughts please?

Give the battery a good charge and see what happens if its been in a garage then chances are the battery may have been discharged and will lead to some of the lost comms Discovery 3 se gone

Hi Geoff
New battery fitted about a month or so ago - well before the current issues. Well charged and problem tended to occur after a reasonable (20 minutes plus) drive, so should be all up to charge
I am going to clear these faults and then have a "clean" set if the fault recurs
Cheers

That's where most of the faults may have come from then as you say clear them and see what pops back up i bet not many Discovery 3 se gone

Hiya
Great to see u fired up the iid
Plus 1 what @geoff has said , also if I may plse add wouldn’t hurt to also put a multimeter across ur battery
Ref the iid, I think it’s in the transfer box section u can check of how much time it has spent in each terrain response setting
As a side note the FBH will stop working if the low fuel level light comes on
Hope that helps

Just had the Christmas Tree again. This is what came out of the IID log:

I have taken a log of the fuel pressure and injector pressures if that would be of use to see?D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys

This could be a faulty instrument panel circuit board, you may have dry joint on the canbus wiring

Okay, so it happened again and the following fault code was added:
P0101-00 (68) Mass or volume air flow - circuit range/performance
I took a look across the software in the modules and both the instrument pack and the transmission pack have updates available. Should I install them?
One other thing occurred to me. I had a new parking brake module fitted recently and the garage used their tool to marry the module to the car. Not sure what tool it was. If they updated the parking module ECU could this be causing comms errors with the Instruments and Transmission if they were not updated at the same time?D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys

Small update
Fault is getting more frequent. Decided to run a log on the IID fuel the fuel pressure.
Below is the output. LHS is idle, middle is driving and then the spike occurred just as the car faulted.
Is this a sensor or HP fuel pump - or is the surge something to do with the fuel pump being shut down by the system?
Sorry - this one has me very confused

As said have you checked voltage of battery when turned off when running and when running with everything on as most of them are still u codes which usually point to battery but by checking all the above you can maybe rule out battery and alternator Discovery 3 se gone

12.3v off, 13.8/9v on, 14.1/2 lights and heaters on
New battery 6 weeks ago after old one died, Yuasa Silver 110/950 same as the one that came out.
New alternator (LR not cheap stuff) about a year agoD3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys

These things use a lot of power i used to get about 14.5 volts with nothing switched on what alternator was fitted they only like Denso from what i have seen on here may be worth a check Discovery 3 se gone

I don’t think it’s the battery or alternator with those voltages - 14v plus is surely good and reflects the intelligent charging of the D3 considering the car has only just been started and the battery is healthy?
I have ordered a fuel pressure gauge which will be here tomorrow. I am getting fascinated by all this analysis. Seem to be occurring mostly when I am accelerating / increasing load on the engine rather than on a steady throttle. In a carburettor car I would be thinking fuel starvation and hitting the float chamber, jets etc. Here I am going to start with the LPFP and filter. Does that make sense?
Reading around this I hadn’t realised that the LPFP continuously circulates the contents of the fuel tank. Running a D3 near empty for any length of time is therefore crazy - should be never less than half tank or better - otherwise any sludge or other debris is just being circulated round and round the system clogging up the filter etc. Kind of like not cleaning the dish washer filters and wondering why the dishes are still dirty.D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys

When was the fuel filter last changed? I think that might be your problem.
Don’t think it’s the instrument panel, I’ve been battling with the Christmas tree thing myself so know how frustrating it can be!
There is a technical bulletin from land rover that helps diagnose this kind of issue, it has an appendx of codes you can ignore. I’ll dig it out in the morning.
Mine was down to a loose wire on the mechatronic connector.
It’s worth taking your time to group the codes and see which module they mostly come from, that then gives you a starting point. I think it’s more than a canbus issue here though due to the ‘P’ codes.
