System for Keeping the Suspenson up (or down)

I have an idea for a system that would allow the adjustment of sensors to fool the suspension into off road height.
But..............also allow you to drop it back at will as well.
It will operate from a switch in the cabin.

Initial costs are looking like at least $700 for the system plus engineering cert. (It is a modification to the suspension and the law requires it)
I want to know if this is worth pursuing.
Would you be will willing to pay that much or do I need to keep looking for a cheaper method?

$700 is a cheap suspension upgrade. The last trip cost me exhaust repairs and a new heat deflector.
 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Pardon me, but the matzker does exactly that ! i also worked out how to do it, then discovered the matzker and thought why bother with experimental electronics when you can use a proper built and proved unit for just a few bob more.
it really is a load of hassel, when the germans have already done it.

Chris - the Matzker system works out at well over $1000 oz dollars over here. I think $700 is too hight, but for 4-500 it would be OK.

A fellow D3-er has suggested a simpler two setting sliding sensor arm - we're looking into that - for $100 or less Smile

Currently, I just have two sensor arms fitted to the sensor at all times - when I need the extra travel, it's a 40sec job to swap over the upper connection (to the chassis). Costs less than $100.

Just injecting a quiescent current into the correct Earth point of the EAS module would accomplish the same as the Matzker system, and couldn't cost more than $200 - $300 to rig up. So I guess around $500 would be right for retail.

I don't need the ability to lower on the highway as offered by Matzker. All I want and need is the 50 mm (+ ?) off road raise. Is the Matzker off road height increase limited to 100 km/hr?

If Metzcar is only $1000 then $700 is high for only solving the off road speed issue.
It needed some parts made to order to be robust enough to work and survive, standard parts may be poss but can they take the punishment?

Matzker system sells for about AUD2k beyond my threshold of pain in the hip pocket.

Someone and I can not find it had worked out where on the comp. program and how to change the perameters, they said they needed a bit of time to complete it.
So if it is just a hook up to external computor and delve into things and change I would be happy to pay for it.
Say $200. AUD ok.

I have been waiting to see if someone would come up with an electronic or software solution other than Matzker.
Matzker is electronic rather than a software solution. A software solution would be nice and should be cheap as there are no parts to supply or fit.
The shortened rods have solved the issue but need to physically changed over. A remotely activated rod shortening system would seem to be the simplest way to go but as the spanish found out acuators of sufficient quality are expensive and you need four of them.
The give any form of guarantee of performance under extreme conditions bespoke parts need to be made.
Otherwise a cheaper system could be made with no guarantee againt damage or breakage. Where the rods are they are exposed and get a ponding from the supension movement; they connect the sprung and unsrung pats of the car. Shocked
Any system like this will need developement time and money and a testing regime before it can be marketed, it cannot be bench tested and passed by an engineer. Sad

Any chance of some pics - Also I know this has been asked before but how do you do that rear without removing the wheel first

- as soon as I get a new cable for my digital camera (lost it when moving house!) I can post some more. As for the rear connection, true, you have to crawl under the car a little at first, but you soon get to memorise where to place your hands!
