Great new tyre. Avon AX7
I've just completed over 2000+ miles with this tyre in mixed conditions, speed and fully loaded.
I've previously fitted GGAT, GGAT3 and Duratracs to my cars and have been pretty impressed with them all, particularly the Duratracs.
Prior to our (short!) trip to France, I thought id better change my AT3 tyres. They were all down to 3-4mm and I always change them at 4mm. Lots of searching and no Duratracs or AT3 to be had in the timescale so my local tyre fitter suggested the new Avon AX7. Needs must so I got him to fit them. The online reviews seemed OK.
We loaded up Gerty, with fridge, crap for four people and a dog for four weeks and four bikes (we really don't travel light ) and set off for the Dordogne to our French home.
The car was really well planted, the tyres were quiet and weirdly more economical Even empty driving it around the twisty lanes and tracks were we live it was really grippy and comfortable, however, what really impressed me was its performance in the rain both empty when I drove to Toulouse and then when we had the mad dash back to beat quarantine
Like most people in France at the time, we only heard about the new quarantine rules at 11pm on Thursday night. We did a frantic pack up in the pouring rain and left the house at 3am. We were fully loaded with bikes on the back driving in torrential rain but made it to the tunnel for 12.00 for a train.
The car handled brilliantly and just took everything in its stride, despite the load it was carrying and the road and weather conditions. What really stood out were the tyres. I am really impressed with these Avon AX7. I have no idea how long they will last but unless something better comes along, i'll be putting another set on. Highly recommended as an alternative.

Had a few sets of Avon’s on various cars and have to say that they have been brilliant, would use Avon for summer and Vredestein for winter on all my cars going forward... yet to try them on a D3 though I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Another Avon fan here. Not on the LR, but on 'normal' cars. Great value and great performance Kev

They look interesting. I was thinking of going back to Duratracs after the AT3s I’m running now. Think Duratracs will be better in mud but prefer the speed rating on these. I’ve been underwhelmed with the AT3s - very understeery when it’s damp once they were part worn.

It's interesting you say that sarumlight. I was thinking about going for Grabbers in a 255/55/20 profile when my current tyres become worn out. Good feedback 👍Kev

@Moo ... what season are these rated for? Looking to get "All Season" tyres but can't find that info on the Avon website..

They're marked M&S so all season I'd presume.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

According to Oponeo tyres with M+S are not necessarily ‘All season’. They also say the following about the M+S marking:
“this is only a declaration from the manufacturer that the product operates in mud and snow better than regular models. This may be misleading”
Cheers
