Thread revival time!

I have recently joined the "Sucking Hall of Shame", having left a paper towel in the usual place and had it disappear when I started the engine - doh!

I've tried fishing and hoovering down the hole - no luck, I've tried blowing back via the left side intercooler hose - no luck (and no sign of shredded paper towel in there).

So I'm now attempting to pop the intake tube off the front of the turbo. Help please, I need some tips because it is not budging and I'm worried about stabbing it with my scredriver or levers if I try too hard.

I have the top mouting screw removed near to the rad, but cannot find or see where the middle lower fixing might be. I also see there is a smaller hose tee'd off above the turbo, held in place with what looks to be an impossibly located spring clip - does this have to come off to move the main pipe or can it remain in situ?

Finally is there any sort of rubber collar where the pipe sits on the turbo - if so is it integral or separate - just tryng to work out where best to tugg or push!

Thanks in anticipation Confused

Take the pipe off the passenger side of the intercooler and if there's no paper towel present cover the open end of the pipe with plenty of masking tape. Then push your air gun through the masking tape and blow back towards the turbo. With the long top intake pipe removed (on top of the rad) the ingested paper should get blown back up the pipe. If you have or can get access to a bore scope it would be handy!

The turbo pipes are tight, and you will need to release the bolts on the metal pipe in order to remove the pressure pipe back. The narrow pipe is a scavenge from the crankcase breather, and can stay in place as you should only need to move the intake just off it's mounting to the turbo. The upper pipe is the pressure side of the turbo and the lower is the intake (suction) side. If the paper was "loose" it might just get chewed up and spat out, but I wouldn't advise taking that chance. if it was crumpled up it will definitely jam in the intake impellor and damage the turbo.

Access is behind the heat shields and upper P/S suspension arm.

Doubt if they are quite big enough but perhaps we should be using something like these to plug the hole Very Happy

It will be a metal or plastic jam jar lid or similar, of larger diameter to the pipe, if there is a next time. lol!

Thanks profsr g, just to clarify, where is the "metal pipe" that you refer to? I'll try the tape up method when it next stops raining!
