Metallic clunk from front nearside.
I have an intermittent fault that it driving me nuts.
When turning left (not necessarily on full lock) and the turn coincides with a dip in the road, I get a single metallic "clang" from the nearside. There are no other bangs or clatter evident in normal driving.
By way of background, turn stops are smothered in grease. ARB bushes replaced three years ago and anti roll bar appears ok. Drop links replaced this week. New front lower arms one year ago. Track rod ends three years ago. Done 20,000 miles tops in the past three years.
I can't get ARB bushes out of my head, apart from the foregoing.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?
TIA

Have you checked the upper arms and ball joint? It's the only bit you haven't replaced!
Beyond that I'd say just make sure all the bottom arm bolts are torqued correctly as wheel alignment chaps may have been a bit short on biceps. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I've had a good delve on the side in question and can't find anything amiss.
What I have found is a better description of the noise (from another member of the forum, who has a similar issue but can find no answer either) - "it sounds like something big and metal hitting something else big and metal under pressure then releasing, think a big spring suddenly going boing under tension."
The latest vote/suggestion is worn track rods (i.e. at the rack end). There has also been a suggestion that the lower column u/j might be suspect, but my reservation about that is that the noise is definitely "sided" (coming predominantly from the near side as far as I can tell).
I'll try and post a recording when I get the chance. It's such an almighty "twang" that you expect to see bits hanging off when you stick your head under there, but there is nothing obvious to see.

The only other thing I can suggest is the front diff mountings, though I have never come across a problem with them.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I had a metal clunk like you’re describing. I had no symptoms when I jacked it up. I eventually traced it to the ball joint in the top arm. The hole was slightly oval and the weight transfer on cornering made it move.

That's a good shout.
I've actually had the offending side apart recently (to replace the drive shaft inner boot) and the top ball joint seemed fine.
It is quite a noise when it happens. Was yours that pronounced?

Quite a frightening clunk. Like something is seriously wrong.
