Tailgate high level interior trim |
|
I think what I need to do is remove the upper interior tailgate trim, so that I can get at the back of a small 'ding' in the top corner of the tailgate (interfaced with unseen tree branch while reversing into a parking space!), to see if I can massage it out with a bit of heat.
Is removal of that trim piece as simple as popping it off some clips? Or is there something else I need to know?

You need to remove the internal handle first (one screw) and the rubber thing in the tailgate lock. After that it’s just a matter of popping it out.

Sorry, should've been clearer - I mean the trim piece at the very top of the upper tailgate, behind the high-level brake light.
If I get that off, I reckon I can get behind the dent and massage it out with the help of a hair-dryer. (That very top panel of the tailgate, in which the high-level stop light sits, is polycarbonate rather than steel, right? Certainly sounds like it when I tap it...)
