water in passenger foot well
Hi i have a Discovery 4 HSE 2011
I have a lot of water in my foot well
I has anyone got any ideas i have cleaned the drain in the sunroof and this seams to be running.
my car is parked on a angle with passenger foot-well being down hill.
It is raining hard today and i can see the water draining in the wheel arch but there is lots of water in the foot well none has come down the down the window pillar so must be draining the sun roof.
Has anyone got any ideas as this has never happened before and i guess there is a lot of water coming in from somewhere to keep the puddle going.
any idea would be welcome many thanks Gary

I found a seam in the body had opened up, and several others have since had the same issue.

Hi thanks I will look at the link.
I clean the drain tubes regular and all running ok at the moment.
I did see someone say there could be a problem with the scuttle panel I did spray with a restorer product last week.
Maybe this lifted the seal I looked earlier and there were two small sections that were not touching the windscreen but only small gap maybe 1 mm but I guess that could account for some water getting in. If not raining tomorrow I will spray some water on this area and see if that could be the problem.
Do you think I would see anything if I take out the Pollen filter?
Thanks for your help

to eliminate the sunroof from the equation simply smear Vaseline around the joint and wipe off the excess, it total seals the sunroof so you can look elsewhere for the leak i did this and it proved it was my sunroof not anything elseRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

There is also an elbow joint in the sunroof drain and the older ones can split so although it might 'drain' it also pours water into the footwell..

There’s also a known issue with open holes behind the A pillar trim. These were covered by stickers and foam at the factory but after a number of years they fail and let the water in.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

water flowing freely through the sun roof drains even popped out the side grill to check and cleaned that end of pipe.
sprayed water over skuttle board don't know if that is right name bottom of windscreen no water.
took roof rail off could not find anything there either.
Have you checked the rear drains, when I worked out it my drains and nothing else after using the Vaseline I took the carpets up and used food colouring in the water and did different colours for each of the four drain tubes, id suggest sealing the roof with Vaseline lifting the carpets to help get them dry and pour coloured water over the car to give yourself a fighting chance to catch the leak, one last thought have you checked the air con drain pipes are not blockedRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

Hiya
Don’t know if it’s any help, have u checked the connector in the door that goes from the body into the door as if it isn’t fitted properly can allow water to get into the footwell
Not a very good picture but can see the water running down the panel and past the connector
Just an idea and hope it helps

Check the scuttle panel. It's the plastic panel at the bottom of the windscreen. When it lifts through age, it allows water to run down and into the AC system. It flows down into the AC motor, through the AC filter and leaks through the plastic assembly at the back, under the carpet.
There is a mod you can do to create a deflector to divert any water that comes down past the scuttle to around the AC entry. When you take off the scuttle you'll see how the AC vent protrudes into the way of any water that gets under the scuttle.
Do a search on here and you'll find a couple of posts. I had to do this fix.

Hi thanks for that.
I didn’t know there were rear drains. I guess it makes sense that there is
Where are they and where do they come out.
Also where is the ac drain pipe I guess it’s underneath the car but where.
Thanks.
Didn’t see any water on the A pillar only in the foot well.
