HAVE I GOT A DPF, NEED TO KNOW FOR OIL?
Hi Everyone,
I have decided to carry out my own service as due to lockdown I have time on my hands and not a lot of dosh. First problem is the oil supplier wants to know if I have a DPF or not as apparently this decides the choice of oil. I looked on the forum and found a chart to look up via vin number but I think it predated my car as it had mine down as petrol! Mine is a 2014 3ltr diesel with the vin number below. Does anyone know how i can find out if I have a DPF?

Almost certainly has, but go on to Advanced Factors or eurocarparts site and put in your reg, it'll tell you what oil you need.

Thanks but all the registration look-ups just give you a choice of DPF or Non DPF oil - Ahhhh!

Hi all
All 2.7's in Aus do not have DPF.
Was only introduced for the 3.0l.
If u have a 3.0l, your vin will have a G if u have a DPF.
Eg: SALLAAAG incl. DPF, SALLAAAF no DPF.
Cheers.
If that is still relevent info then the G in the VIN would mean I have a DPF.
Is it safe to use DPF grade oil in a non DPF engine, just in case say it didn't have a DPF in the end?

This topic is really annoying me contacted Land Rover/Range Rover they told me my car has a dpf looked under car cannot see 1 looked at oil at various company’s comes up with semi synthetic no mention of dpf looked on car check it’s a euro 4 all signs are saying it doesn’t have a dpf no g in vin 8th number is a 1 says 59 has dpf myne is a 09 anyone shed any light on this please am I right in thinking dpf comes after cat all I have is a centre muffler box that splits exhaust into 2 after cat above cat is the turbo think I’ve answered my own question but any advice is good advice because I’ve heard that the main reason a 2.7 fails is because of a dpf blockage

Yes you are correct in thinking a DPF filter would come immediately after the CAT.
It sounds like you do not have a DPF (lucky man).Gone 2016 Landmark D4

If the 8th character of your VIN is number 1 then you do not have a DPF fitted.
If the 8th character of your VIN is number 6 then you do have a DPF fitted.
