Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the Bluetooth optional extra as an add on, or is it factory fitted only?
All of the controls are in place ie radio buttons, and the phone lever on the steering wheel.
cheers,

Yes, it is possible to have this installed as an accessory fit.
If you have the steering wheel paddles, do you also have the roof aerial?

No I do not have the roof aerial. Do you know if it is something I could do or is it a LR job?

If you have the two phone buttons on the steering wheel but do not have the roof aerial, that normally means you have the more limited dealer-installed "kit" PTI/Bluetooth. You should be able to use a Bluetooth phone with it. Anyway, if you really only have the buttons but no PTI (which I've never seen)... you can fit the rest.

What happens when you pull the top phone button?
Strange that you've got them but not the rest of the kit The End

My mistake, I only have the phone button on the actual radio. I have been looking through too many Disco books and I thought I had them!!!
I guess it is quite a lot of work to install paddles, roof aerial etc....I guess I could carry on using my oldstyle ear-piece!!!

The kit doesn't come with the roof aerial, it includes the bluetooth and voice module, the steering wheel control, microphone and all the required cables.
With the exception of the steering wheel controls I fitted mine myself, it's a pain to do as you have to pull most of the centre console apart but a dealer will charge you several hours labour to do it. I got the steering wheel controls dealer fitted as apart from not having the special tool (which looks like a bit of bent wire) I didn't fancy removing the air-bag myself, dealer charged me half an hours labour for the fitting.
I've wondered about the roof aerial, is this factory fit only or does anyone know if it comes with a cradle? The bluetooth kit includes the wiring to connect to a cradle but obviously without one attached it'll be using the phones internal aerial but it would make sense for it to be included with a cradle The End

Thanks Slimer,
What did it all end up costing you?? And does it operate satisfactorily for you?
I will ask my local LR dealer to quote me for it, I wish I had shelled out the £350/£400 for PTI when I ordered it!!

My kit was an eBay bargain, retail price of the components is about £400 so see how much less than that you can get it for.
It works fine for me, receive a lot of calls but don't make too many so I spent a few minutes storing the few I am likely to call in the car phone book so I can voice dial them when needed.
I did have an issue with the phone causing problems with nav system but a dealer swapped the bluetooth module under warranty as there was a Service Bulletin relating to the problem.

Out of interest what issue did you have with the bluetooth kit & nav? The problem I have is that if I am on the phone when instructions from the sat nav kick in the phone output to the speakers is muted until the sat nav has stopped talking. Andy - 2006 HSE TDV6

The problem I had was as soon as I turned the key the system beeped at me and expected a voice input until I acknowledged the nav agreement. It also locked out the nav and radio sometimes after disconnecting a call.
Quote Service Bulletin LA419-003 at your dealer, it's a phone module replacement that fixes a few other issues too so maybe it'll fix yours The End
