I have a Land Rover battery which was manufactured by Varta which was fitted on the 9 January 2010. So I have had over 10 years from the one battery. Keep thinking I should be looking at replacing it but having got through another winter it should be ok now until next winter.

Exide are inferior to Varta or Bosch IMO
Incorrect. Bosch rarely last more than 2 years
Varta (supposedly) make batteries for Halfords, and again, they are not great...
The only Exide batteries I've had an issue with, are those that have been damaged by alternator failure
No to Bosch had two that did not last bought Varta from Halfords with five year guarantee still going strong after six years.

Hi ZIG
I just replaced my battery last week as it failed 3 days after Halfords tested it saying it was OK (690 CCA and voltage good)
Filled up with fuel and it would not turn over. had to call out Green Flag.
Mine was also the original battery 11 years old.
Best get a new one ready. Faultmate MSV-2
500,000 plus miles in RR,s and trying for more without breakdowns this time
Gone Lexus RX400h SE
Past Audi A6 avant Qutro
Toyota Supra
Long line of RR's
Had for 40 years but now gone 1935 Daimler and 1937 MG

Eventually after 11 1/2 years the Varta battery fitted on 9 January 2010 has been replaced. What I found was that although the engine started easily, error messages had started to appear after the engine had started, which indicated to me that these were probably triggered by the battery voltage being dragged down by a significant amount when the starter motor was turning over the engine. New battery (Bosch) now fitted and error messages on starting the engine have now gone.

What are the current thoughts on what replacement battery is Yuasa HSB019 Silver the one to go for or is there a better one to go for?
Currently have a Bosch which I got 1 3/4 years ago which I suspect is now on the way out (prior to that I had a Varta which lasted 11 1/2 years).
