Just had my renewal through from LV
Just over a £50 increase in annual premium, windscreen excess increase from £140 to £190 and a MASSIVE increase in compulsory excess meaning a £900 total excess
ring them up and they graciously drop the renewal by £40 the arrogant robbing bar stewards
I can get a slightly higher level of cover elsewhere, with only a total £300 excess, £115 windscreen for £100 less than I paid last year, over £150 less than LV renewal 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I always do a site comparison check,
Money supermarket, compare the market, go compare and confused. Then add Aiva and a couple of other ones not on those site. After which I go via the TopCashBack site and get further money for shopping via them.
I recall getting a D4 fully comp with protected no claims and £100 excess for £90 in 2014. That’s the cheapest I managed.
Think I am £300 for the D5.

Having tried various permutations for quotes I came to the conclusion that there wsa no significant advantage in having a voluntary excess. At best it seemed to make about £10 difference. So I always set the voluntary excess to zero - hardly any more expensive and makes a big difference to me if I do have to make a claim.
Recent renewal quote from Churchill for my shogun - £650. Meercat delivered LV identical cover, £350. I never negotiate with insurance renewals. Their time to give me their best offer is when they send the renewal notice. If they aren't giving me their best deal then they lose my business. This time it was extreme though. Even the Churchill phone person didn't offer to try to match it!

9yrs, no points and more than 52.
includes motor legal protection and protected NCD. Don't need a hire car as I have too many
They don't reward loyalty in the insurance market so I feel no obligation.....

Just an aside to this, but the best time to get a quote is about 3 weeks before renewal. My sons price went from about £500 to £750 because he left it till the last minute to renew. He just set it to renew 10 days later as he didnt need the car for a couple of weeks, that got it back down to about £600. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

my policy with LV runs out 9th March so is 20 days.
I work with someone who is complete OCD over bills and pretty much everything else and she says the same, 21 days before renewal is the best time to get a new quote.
by law insurance companies now have to give you 21 days notice of the renewal quote, along with what last years price was 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

For the last 3 years the NFU have blown everyone else into the weeds, in terms of price and quality of cover
It only works if you’ve got what the NFU consider to be a rural postcode and they won’t have anything to do with price comparison websites. They don’t charge for changes, include RAC cover, legal protection, trailer cover, cover for up to 2,000 shotgun cartridges and the same in rounds of ammunition (!!), will cover you if you need to leave the windows ajar for the dog (most won’t), assume you’ll be taking it off road (naturally!), give two years new for old cover on new cars AND they were still at least 20% less than the best price that I could get from Compare the Meerkat 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)
