Discovery 4 commercial price query ?
Hi knowledgeable peeps ,
I have locally to me a D4 that may become available and I’m wondering how it sits value / price wise for the spec ?
Could anyone give an idea if it makes sense ( man maths not allowed as I will buy it )
It’s a march 15 plate , Loire blue , full black leather , rear seat conversion , full LR history , 117,000 miles , glass all around , though rear door windows not currently functioning.
Not pictured but it now has the proper Lazer manufactured grill and lights fitted.
Price is 15000 + vat.
Any thoughts peeps?
Shiny !
Thanks

Personally, sounds pricey.
I just got a 2013 non-commercial XS with 115k for a lot less, but it is older than yours and I think by 2015 the tax is lower, but also factor in the big service for the belts which is prob due now.2013, D4 XS

Hi ,
Thanks for the reply , I’m really not sure where it sits £ wise , I have yet to look at the history but was sort of hoping that if ( as claimed ) it has full LR history then the mileage would have defined the belts etc were done already?
Seat conversion already done saves some hassle and cost , makes it more versatile in the household too.
Cheers

Check the spec if you like the goodies. Lots have halogens, you can tell because they don't have LED signature lights, also many have leather seats without being heated which could be a tad chilly in winter. Also If no satnav then it also has base audio.
Two years ago I bought my 2014 commercial with the aforementioned toys plus heated steering wheel. 120,000 miles for £16300 + vat which was a very good price at the time. If it's been well looked after (some commercials have had a pretty hard life) and you could shave a little off the price then it could be perfect.
Belts should have been done at last service.Stu

Hopefully it is heated leather and with regards the lights , do you mean the drl sig light part of it just doesn’t work or they actually not even fitted ?
Thanks again

It's not all about price!
If it's thereabouts and if spec is good, it looks good & (more importantly), "in your bones" it feels good, then that's the D4 for you.
If so, go for it. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Hi Ron
I know what you mean , I have wasted, sorry invested lots of wonga in the past on vehicles that has gotten under my skin.
Once I get an itch , if hasn’t gone within 2 weeks then it normally ends up on the drive
It’s just whether I should get an non commercial or whether this one is just convenient/local.
Will have to have a prod and poke soon me thinks.
Thanks

In addition to my post ....
.... if you have any doubts about whether it's a commercial over an SE or HSE, then forget it an move on.
When getting my D4, I was initially looking at an SE, but not having armrests on the seats was a really big issue for me.
So I forgot about it and then secured an HSE (with armrests) at the same price.
The right one "for you" will always turn up. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I usually find “the one “ whilst looking on autotrader at the vehicles in question , AFTER I have bought one already don’t know why I do it , it usually ends up in disappointment
Hadn’t really thought about the little details ( that can be a big issue ) having had 2 Hse’s in the past I guess I just took took the extras for granted.
Good point though thanks. 👍Procrastination is the thief of time!!

Do you intend to carry passengers in the rear?
As far as I'm aware Commercial ones aren't fitted with with the airbags under the headlining and pillars.
I would think this type of thing would invalidate insurance

Halogens have the DRL's like the pic below.
As opposed to Xenons with DRL signature.
Pics of heated seat switches or lack of.
And with switches.
I had a low mileage 2016 HSE lux for a year before going backwards to the 2014 commercial. The only thing I miss a bit is the armrests, They only come with optional electric seats. It drives just as lovely. As long as it doesn't have the base audio then you still get the sub in the lower tailgate.Stu

Many thanks for the pics and info , should make it easier to differentiate between them.
Hopefully the lights are xenon and have the sig strip.
If no armrests I may just deploy my small child with a promise of extra pocket money if he props me up

Thanks for the info , i too have wondered how things lie with the various oddities of the commercial.
Couldn’t find a definitive answer and did wonder if not having rear airbags is an issue , I mean there are millions of cars on the roads that ha e no fancy bags/cushions in the rear , so it maybe just relates to how it left the factory and what’s it’s intended purpose was from the outset.
Almost Asked my insurers but wondered if the query would then be left on my notes to bite me in the bum at a later date
Appreciate the input t, thanks.
