Is there an aux imput on the standard radio / cd unit suitable for use with an MP3 player.

In most (all?) markets with the "standard" (single disc) stereo... no. It would be located on the rear of the center console if you have it.
The good news is you can wire it up yourself if you want it. There is a connector on the rear of the stereo head unit.
