Split bathroom Tap

A bit of a school boy error, forgot to drain our van down in the Autumn. So yep came up this weekend for a couple of nights to find the bathroom tap leaking water. Can I replace this with a mono tap from say B&Q? It’s got quick fit pipes attached to it I think. No micro switch wires that I can see neither.
Annoyed with myself as we normally would drain it down but lesson learned. Will try and remove and bring it home with me. I keep tools in the van.

If it has a micro switch on the tap (and a couple of cables) to start up the pump then its unlikely to be an item you will find in B&Q.

Alternatively if there is no switch/cable then your water pump is pressure activated (drop in pressure when tap is turned on starts the pump)

You should find it easier to get this type of tap from a diy store. Thumbs Up

Think it’s a Reich Vector E5, if it is I suspect from the info it is switched as it comes with 600mm of cable.

So glad I drained down for winter.

No switch that on this one , so thinking I might get away with a standard tap , rather than some fancy plastic caravan specific one . ?

I think there is a need to choose a replacement tap which is suitable for low pressure. Seem to recall it shows being low, high or both on the box/info. Thumbs Up

Do you have to drain down? I ask as on the boat all I do is leave all the taps open.

I would drain down if left for an extended period in cold weather. We have van at home and leave heating on but always drain down to be on safe side. I do not blow out the system with a Flo mate though

Try contacting Swift or your dealer for a tap you may be surprised at price, there is a site that does caravan spares and their prices are reasonable but cannot remember the name off hand, will try to find.

We only used to drain down over the winter months but now do it very time we put the van back into storage. It's just a case of opening all three taps and two drain valves, so it's just part of our end of holiday packing up routine

Yep and was ours as well, however I forgot this time !! It’s annoyance more than anything. A thought did occur that it’s the cartridge mixer thingy inside that’s maybe split but won’t know till I get it out .

Drained down our Senator years back, just opened all the taps, a few droplets remained in the pump, that was £100 +, blown it out ever since, normally get well in excess of a pint out when I do.

Just to update , new bathroom tap Reich E5 £100 sorted. Of course I then discover my shower mix was Censored . Need to work out if I can replace the cartridge. If not that’s another £100 probably Censored .
