Splice, F transmission fault, p1807-00 issue
Hi all, I had a sunroof leak which is all sorted. I didn’t dry the car out immediately and now have a F in the gear indicator, transmission fault message shows up as P1807-00 short to ground. I’ve spent all day looking and drying the car out. Both front seats out and a splice hunt! I’ve found what I believe to be the correct splice that is causing my issue, cut out (back to clean copper) and re soldered, still have the same issue. I checked all the wires in the splice for continuity to ground and found one which seams to be a short, no voltage on any but I guess this is the car protecting itself? The wire in question goes to a green connector on the passenger a pillar then disappears up behind the dash somewhere! Can anyone confirm weather I’m barking up the wrong tree or if I’m on the right track but has an idea of where else to check for this short?! I took a couple of photos of what I think is the issue, please feel free to correct me!

To add insult to injury, now the ignition seams to have jammed 🤦♂️
I WD40’d the barrel which I know isn’t ideal but I can now get the key in but it won’t turn! Anyone have any ideas on this?

wiggle the steering wheel left and right as it may be caught up in the lock

Definitely not that, the key was initially stiff to get in and out of the barrel for whatever reason, but I can’t get it to turn even with wiggling the wheel or the spare key.
It’s like the barrel has jammed, the key isn’t smooth going in and out of the lock even without trying to turn it.
May seem a little counter-intuitive, but try turning the sidelights on and see if you can turn the key. It may get you out of your current fix, but you'll still need to track the errant splice to resolve it.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Just a thought , are the channels under the carpet that the loom sits in either side of the inside sills dry , wondering if maybe a splice is sitting in water
There’s also some earth points at the bottom of the B pillars, right next to the impact sensors
Also as a side note , is the mechatronic connector ok on the gearbox along with the ecu modules that sit behind the battery

I’ve tried the side light trick (found that on one of my forum searches!)
The sill channels are now dry, carpets are still up. One splice ( red wires) re done but still shows a short on my multimeter. I have narrowed it down to one particular wire. The connectors and ecus behind the battery are all clean/dry and also don’t affect the ground reading on the multimeter when unplugged. I think it must be another splice somewhere else, it’s just locating the wiring routes that seams the main issue at the moment.

Short to ground can also mean a live feed or fuse is not doing what it's supposed to do.Joe

Ok worth knowing, although the red wire in the splice shows almost no resistance to earth (bare metal) which leads me to think it has shorted out somewhere or in a unit somewhere?
