Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tyres |
|
I’ve poured over the tyre threads for weeks and weeks as my disco on 18s has been in need of some new tyres for a little while. It had 2 x general grabbers on the rear (both with slow punctures!) and a nearly new hifly vigorous (cheapo) and a nearly new cooper zeon xsta on the front.
I recently got them replaced with the Falkens and I’m really impressed. Very sure footed in the wet, tread looks reasonably aggressive for a mostly road tyre (plenty enough for the once a week I drive round grass fields), and the insane vibration I had above 50mph has totally disappeared. I’ve done 260miles since fitting and mostly motorway, they were brilliant and much much smoother and quieter than my previous odd tyres. Quite happy to sit at 85mph on the motorway. I’m not sure if the reason they feel SO impressive is because the mixture of tyres I had fitted before were really really bad. I suspect that’s the case to some extent but I’m not taking anything from the Falkens. Really pleased with them!
For £110 pound a corner a fitted I think they are very well priced and a good alternative to the usual favourites (grabber at3, discoverer at etc). I made my decision based on the limited mentions they’ve had on this forum, and what I’ve read on other forums - mainly abroad where they seem more popular. Anyway just thought it worth a post on here to share my good experience for anybody who finds them self in the position I was recently. Discovery 3 XS - sold

I've just had these tyres fitted & am so far quite happy. I got 5 fitted, balanced & a wheel alignment for AU $1245 which I think is good. They are not too noisy (for an AT) & are reasonably confident in the wet. Have yet to use them in anger. I went for 265/60 18.

Any updates from user of this tyre would be appreciated.
They are one of only a very few AT tyres available in the 255-55-20 standard size for the L405 FFRR. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Readysalted, how have the Falkens performed the last few years? I'm thinking of getting some as we go into winter to replace the Pirellis I've got on the front.
I've got a pair of Falken Azenis on the rears that the previous owner fitted, but I don't know what they'll be like in the winter yet as only had the D3 since Feb. Volunteer driver with 4x4 Response South East Wales

I fitted them to our d3 they are great tyres I'm fitting a set to my sport for winter.
They have gone up a bit at over £660 for 4 in my size but worth it. Just got to refurbish my spare wheels ready for the new rubber.

I concur. Had a set fitted a couple of months ago and so far they seem great. Had Goodyear Wrangle HPs before. Annoyingly I picked up a screw in one the other day! All repaired now though, much cheaper than another tyre. 2004 Disco 3 HSE TDV6
