Salisbury Plain - Planning a Route
Hi all,
A few of us are off to Salisbury plain Next Friday for the weekend and i am finding route planning difficult with many different points of truth.
Firstly i use ViewRanger with full OS mapping so have OS maps on there.
I am also aware of the Wiltshire council site with route overlays.
I am also aware of the MOD newsletter.
What i seem to be having issues with is pulling all this information together.
Is there anyone out there who wouldn't mind glancing over my routes who knows the plain well once i have made them?
Also, does anyone have tips or guides for must drive BOATS - something a little challenging?
Thanks chaps/chapesses!

www.bywaymap.com is my go-to backed up with an up to date Landranger OS map.
Bulford Droveway leading into The Old Marlborough Road is a good trek with a river crossing - it will be interesting after all this rain! But do check the range status before you go. I would add that one joy of the Plains is finding routes and challenges by chance, and then way-pointing them 2007 D3 SE - currently having all sorts bolted to it...

Went down this afternoon in the glorious autumn sunshine along with a mate in his defender. Very slippery at the moment and lots of water to play in! This is me below doing front crawl!

@JackNorris - plenty of water all over but specifically, on the byways NNE of Tilshead (Westdown Camp)
Circa 60cm in places with the odd rut taking you a bit lower cross-axle.
Also found an excellent, mildly technical muddy and water splash track through a wood (Tottenham Wood, Westbury on Google Maps) - coords are: 51.2708176, -2.0850588, which isn't far away from Tilshead.2007 D3 SE - currently having all sorts bolted to it...

No, no teeth in that wood - I like your route though on your video - where were you going from/to roughly? Am thinking of fitting a RAI as the water gets deeper on the plains - have you fitted one?2007 D3 SE - currently having all sorts bolted to it...

There is some very deep water on the plain if you know where to go. I have had my landcruiser way over the wipers.
If my foot was really bad would happily show you about.
