Aperture seal cause Passenger footwell leak?

My D4 has been into a dealership for a passenger footwell leak and seem to think it’s the aperture seal? Would this be even possible? Surely the door seal would prevent the water getting into the door but without having the car I can’t think of the route it could take?

Turned out not to be the aperture seal but the actual door seal, not sure this would cause the leak in the footwell as it looks like the water would have to travel over a lip in the body? Only time will tell...

Possible the sun roof drain tube has perished at the bottom, quite a common problem.

Ireland 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

I have the same issue on my D3. A while ago I had the same issue on my passenger side and after a bit of research and alot of frustration, I found it was caused by the A pillar, (the two black plastic prices running down either side of the windscreen). So I ordered the new clip set and removed and replaced all the clips and taped over the larger hole towards the bottom and refit the pillar trims. It stopped for a while. The other day i noticed the electrics were acting a bit funny, doing weird things etc and then I spotted that the footwell was absolutely soaked. I received the A pillar and all seemed fine. I opened the bonnet and realised that there was a big pool of water in a void behind the battery that had no way out. So i got a towel in there and soaked it all up after a few goes and then realised that my mechanic had obviously dislodged the aperture seal that surrounds the engine. So right behind the battery area, the seal was pulled away leaving any rain water to run freely down the sides of the window and straight into the engine compartment which in turn was running through the filter behind my glove box and into the footwell. A simple enough fix, I just re adjusted the rubber seal in place to deflect the water away from the engine bay. I would put money down that your problem is very similar. Mine doesn't have a sunroof so it's definitely not the drain tubes fault, but try that pillar and seal, hopefully you'll get your smoking gun. Thumbs Up
Geoff

Another common one is the seal at the windscreen scuttle lifts and water enters through the air vent, through the cabin filter and runs back under the carpet. A plastic deflector solves this issue.

Image sideways I think, sorry
