Xenons Retrofit – Clarification required ! |
|
Hi all,
I know the subject of retro-fitting Xenons to a D3 has been covered here at length before, but I just want to get some clarification, before I go commit to something.
I understand that the Xenon headlight units are a simple plug & play job. Simply pop out the regular halogen units & pop in the Xenons & away you go, right ??
The ballast gear is self contained within the headlight unit itself, so need to mount any external gear beside the light……correct again ???
Now, headlight levelling…….
Is there automatic headlight levelling on the air suspension, Xenon equipped D3’s like on the FL2, or is there a headlight adjusting control on the dash ???
If it’s automatic headlight levelling for the Xenons, how does that work out on a D3 that originally didn’t come with Xenons fitted at the factory ??
Are there any other pitfalls, I would need to be aware of, if I go to retro-fit Xenons to a D3 ???
Or is it really as simple as buying two headlight units, complete with bulbs & popping them in ??
Cheers

Yes .
As long as they aren't the Adaptive Type Zeb.Plug and play , self levelling with the air suspension.

Ballast is in the headlamp, so no extra mounting of "stuff" needed. The car self levels whether Xenons are fitted or not. As long as you buy the standard bi-xenons, NOT the adaptive ones, it's just plug and play I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Cheers guys, thanks very much 8)
Anyone got the part numbers for the headlight units ??
There's a new guy in the Parts Dept at my dealer & I don't know him as well as I did the other guy.
So my days of being in behind the counter looking up the LR parts system, are over

Just another quick question.
Do the new headlight units come pre-focused out of the box ??
Or would I need to get the headlights aligned at the dealer, or some other such place ??

so there is no way you can retro-fit bi-xenons to non-air suspension Disco's, right?

Hallo, I install xenons in my D3 yesterday, it has neumatic suspension and they work very very well, the only thing that you need to install, by the law is the headlights washers if you not have it, and nothing more, every work ok by the neumatic suspension with his weight control sensors, we don´t need any instalation more, it has all by standard fabric.
they not start on off on off like others in other posts, everything it´s OK!!!!
sorry for my english.
