Is this a classic ‘sunroof drain blocked’?

Noticed water on the passenger footwell mat this morning, then more appeared as the car started up with engine vibration.
So I went round and opened the passenger door to be met with a big bucket of water pouring out onto the running boards!!!

Lifting the mat and the carpet was drenched - probably been underwater most of the night after consistent heavy rain!

Thoughts and solutions welcome please 😁👍

I had the same this morning . Under the carpet was enough water to fill a swimming pool.

Dropped the headliner and traced the leak to the sunroof drain being blocked....or I hope so!

Do I remember correctly that there is access from the sunroof being open, then strimmer wire down the tube to unblock it?

You can do it that way and see if it all comes gushing out. I loosened the wheel arch lining and dropped the headliner a little to see it. I'm pretty sure mine has a perished end so will need replacing behind the fuse box

Also check you pollen filter. If its wet it could be your scuttle panel

that looks more like a warped cowl letting water in through the pollen filter duct.

Might be worth checking that the door drains are clear.

If your rubber mat was wet I would also be checking the scuttle panel is tight to the screen that's how you get water in the heater fan and pollen filter
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

had a quick look for the sunroof drain access hole today - can't get the sunroof all the way back as I have a Prospeed roof rack fitted.

Could someone post a picture of where I need to be pocking the streamer cable please.

Does the scuttle panel just need pushing back into place?

The door drains - can someone please describe what I'm looking for.

Thanks very much!

Had more of a look.
Pollen filter is completely dry

Scuttle panel isn't completely tight to the screen, but when I peel it back the dirt behind it is dry so that isn't the route of the water:

Where / what do I need to be looking for door drains - are they the 3mm holes in the door trim rubbers attached to the body?

Hi Ben

I've done my front sunroof drains recently, same issue. Im working in Marlow on Sat if youd like a few pointers? Sadly the passenger side is the most difficult of the four drains, but you need to sort it as the water will get into the valleys and corrode the loom.

PM me your number if you fancy meeting Saturday.

Also if you type in 'DIY ACE sunroof drain' into You Tube you'll find my video showing my fix of the driver side.

Hi Richard,
That's really kind, thank you.

I've just watched your video - so hopefully I can have a go again tomorrow. If I have no joy with that then I'll message you my number.

Thanks again, really appreciate the offer

so - took the car apart!
internal A pillar cover off - all seems dry in there so the leak isn't coming from the top of the drain tube:

lower glove box and trim removed to try and see the lower end of the drain tube (which I couldn't!)

external A pillar trim removed, front windscreen valance pulled up
Wheel arch trim removed, wheel arch liner pulled down.

Still can't see the end of the drain tube - can someone give a bit of advice please.........!
