Discovery 4 lights On a discovery 3
Hi, I would like to fit some d4 headlights to my my08 d3 and want to know what I need to change and how to change it! I have soured a set of d4 halogen lights so hopefully it’s less wiring to change it is it plug and play? I also want to put a d4 grille on it so don need to worry about the old grille not fitting.
But I have seen something about the wings possibly need trimming or replacing is this and easy task?

As you said you need wings and bumper plus the grill.
Wings can be cut, there is a template out there somewhere, or get a pair of D4 wings and have them painted in your colour if you can’t find the right colour ones. It’s all easy enough to do and yes the lights are plug and play.
Took me about a day to take the old off and put the new on. Done on my drive without any help
Any questions just give me a shout but I did do a thread when I did mine

Not sure to be honest as I bought some secondhand D4 wings and had them painted my colour.D4 MY15 SE TECH
D3 gone but never forgotten.

I’d use D4 wings personally if you can find a pair, I prefer the symmetry of a vent on either side of the car that’s why I used them when I facelifted mine!

IMO its a hell of a lot of work (and some amount of money) to replace D3 lights for D4 halogen. A waste of time if not fitting the bi-xenon.
The effort is in changing the front end to mount the lights not in it being halogen or bi-xenon.MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone

I got a new door from a breakers yard last week, but he mentioned that he also had a full front end from a D4..
I can give you his details if you like. The price for the door was VERY good, so I would guess that the front end would be a decent price too..
the Door was painted in Orkney Grey, So I assume it comes from the same car.

Hi thanks but I already have the lights!
I was thinking about getting discovery 4 wings but my d3 is Tonga green and I don’t think they did d4 in that colour and I’m worried about the colour match if I had d4 wings painted to that colour🤔

So I’ve been playing and fitted the lights, well sort of🤔
So for anyone else wondering, to fit d4 lights the plug connector is the same it’s plug and play and they will work, however because the d4 lights are shorter than the d3 lights there’s a gap underneath them so you will also need to fit a d4 bumper!
Also the d4 lights go around to the side more so you will need to either replace the wings or trim them to fit, not entirely sure what I’m going to do about that yet 🤔
Also the grille is different so will also need replacing but everyone does that anyway!

So I’ve finally managed to get it all together painted and put on, however I’ve come across a new problem...
I bought discovery 4 2014 bumper and grille but 2012 lights and the grille doesn’t fit!
Is there a grille that would fit or do I need to buy the 2014 lights?
If the 2014 lights is what’s needed how big of a job is it to do the wiring to make the drl work?
