I just found it weird that you would have no compression on any cylinders on either bank, both gaskets to go to that extent, must be something major, just aint sussed it. Anybody heard or experienced similar

There is a way.
The key has 3 buttons. lock, unlock and LR button.
Press and hold the LR button, and then press the suspension up button. This programs the LR button to do suspensions things. You should get a gong. It's tricky. Trying doing the same hold button trick and then press the headlight flasher first.
Once programmed do the following:
Turn the hazzards on.
shut all doors (once out)
Press and hold the LR button on key and keep holding it.
then press and hold either lock or unlock as well. This will make the car go up or down.
Slowly at first, then it speeds up if you hold it
you will hear the compressor fire up

Disco_Mikey wrote:diabloam wrote:Yeah but kinda wanted it for myself, hence not wanting to split it, rather fix it. Where is a reliable source of used engines. I am trying to get it all together for about 3k so anybody know where I can find an honest engine. There are plenty out there but its hard to suss what an engine is like when its already been removed from car
I have a 70-odd K mile engine, still in the car.
I'll know if I need it in the next week or so

I've recently had the cambelt tensioner shear off on mine and have been on the look out for a replacement engine down here in NZ, There is a Peugeot 407 with the motor in TD V6 motor in it including a twin turbo
version.
Hope that's of some help.

There is a garage round the corner from where I work, he's currently putting the Jag Tdv6 into a D3. The Jag was twin turbo and he's swapping all of the D3 stuff onto the Jag engine

Mine had an engine swap from a twin turbo jag. Running beautifully with the standard single turbo D3 set up. Just had it mapped by Bodsy and it’s flying.

Thanks for all your help so far.
I'm planning to take the body off my 07 D3 to change the engine due to the cam belt follower shearing off.
It lasted 12 years so not bad really compared to a lot of the posts on here, I've only had it 10 months which is a big disappointment to say the least.
I saw Pete K's video of the body removal and cylinder head fix on the RR Sport and think I heard him say it was the third video made about it. Only I can't find it now and was hoping someone could post a link to it and any others you think may help a ham fisted bricky go beyond anything he's tried before!
Cheers in advance
Steve
Edit I found a few on UTube!!! All help readily accepted

The Ford Territory came out with the same Engine, folk in Ozzie have had luck transplanting them.
There's a wrecker in Auckland on Trade Me that has/had engines available for around $6000.
I bought a high KM TDV6 D3 a week ago, am beginning to wonder if I should've just stuck with mt D2..... Disco 2 - 1999 v8
Disco 1 - 1998 300tdi
Defender - 1996 300tdi
Rover 220 - 1998 L series (Land Rover engine so it somewhat counts)
